It was a packed, sellout crowd in A-town tonight as the Campbell county "fish-eaters" hooked up. The place was sold-out just after halftime, and we were treated to dandy off a JV game....unfortunately we witnessed the WORST officiating this side of the Pecos, highlighted by a 15 fouls called 1st quarter!!!!!! :isurrender: By games end, which was won by NewCath 42-39, the Breds who only had 7 players dressed, had two players foul out and three with 4 fouls mid 4th quarter. The Stangs had 3 players eventually foul out.

Varsity game, it was raining triples tonight, has NewCath would hit 11 (Moeves 5 & Hall 4) and Brossart with 8. However, the NewCath size and speed was the Stangs downfall. This game was a well officiated contest, with a total of 6 free throws taken....Brossart 4/4 & NewCath 0/2. NewCath's Brennan Hall was saddled with early foul trouble, however the Breds didn't miss a beat with him on the bench most of the 1st half.

The Stangs clung to a 2 point lead after one quarter, but Stephen Pangallo's only bucket of the game, a triple to start the 2nd quarter was all she wrote for the home team. The 2nd quarter was highlighted by an 11 point run from Luke Moeves who scored a lay-up off a steal, then 3 consecutive bombs from beyond the arc.

Brennan Hall would score all 12 of his points in the 2nd half, all from the land of 3, and their was no competition for Trey Wurtz, has he had his way from point blank. Spencer Pangallo got the starting nod tonight, and was more than worthy of that call, dropping 8 and playing some great defense.

The Stangs have a very large portion of this team returning next year, most of which are starters, only 2 seniors on the roster. These guys will make some noise in the next year or two.

Breds play host to St. Henry tomorrow 5:00 JV & 6:30 Varsity.

Game times changed for fundraiser at St. Henry tomorrow night for their softball coach..........http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-softball-high/fogt-fundraiser-341807.html

First I've seen New Cath this year. Very impressed. Wurtz was a beast early. Moeves and Hall dropping the bombs. Pangallo's lots of speed and tenacity. Way too much for Brossart tonight JV game was indeed a nice one. Shame the officials were so bad. Great atmosphere and great to see a lot of the folks I went up on the hill with.

@Fuzzy welcome to BGP.

The thing that impressed me the most was the cheering section for both schools. Both starting cheering about meeting up in FLA for their senior trip. Most/all these kids went through 8 years of grade school together and decided which high school was their best option, but never relinquished their friendships. Good luck to NCC in the 9th region!

A lot of impressions tonight, but a huge shout out must go to Nicole Bezold for singing the National Anthem. Everyone there was unbelievably impressed with her singing talent. Great job!!!

I rarely rail against officials, however, I'm going to make an exception tonight and say that I am publicly embarrassed by the incompetence and inconsistency displayed by the two Bluegrass Officials Association members who worked the JV game, which went one hour and twenty-five minutes and in which 46 fouls were called, 46 free-throws shot, and four players disqualified by fouling out. It was a total disservice to the coaches who work hard to produce a quality product, the players who deserved better in this major community rivalry, and the fans who were forced to endure this travesty.

I rank the Bluegrass Officials Association right at the very top for professionalism and competence. This was demonstrated in the varsity game by three consummate professionals who did their job and let the kids play and decide the ballgame. While the top of the Bluegrass Officials Association members are the very best in the business, those in the bottom ranks, who have for years been calling freshmen and Junior Varsity contests without receiving varsity assignments are just the opposite, as demonstrated quite clearly in the JV game.

Well said @Mustang

I very rarely criticize the officials, however what everyone in the JV game was forced to endure was without question a FIASCO. The only saving grace for me, besides the JV Breds winning, was being behind the NewCath bench to hear Jimmy Pangallo's personal rating of said officials. LOL
