I've always said that parents are the worst thing about kids' sports.

I have 4 parent ejection 1 season of middle school. My kids are not allowed to talk with refs period. If they ask a question they can answer yes sir no sir period. I never talk with refs I do my job coach with the circumstances I have been dealt. Ref is the boss play by his interpretation of the rule.

If you can tell me you do not give trophies for finishing in second place, you are my new hero!!

@Basketball12345 I like your post too, but I believe that the Refs authority starts and stops with the horn. When they try to dictate start times and the length of halftimes, then I think I have the right to call them on it. Those types of things fall on the league rules or the host school

I had a Varsity coach ask me the other night "do all the kids you see make faces when a foul gets called"....yep, most do. That same coach "explained" to a player that had just been whistled for a foul and was being benched that the foul was on him and not anyone else...

 

As for parents, I agree with @lawildcat if parents would just learn to watch and enjoy and not blame, it's so much more fun. I didn't learn this lesson until waaayyyy late in the game (my last son's senior year) but when I quit finding excuses for why, I found I enjoyed the experience so much more...only sad I didn't learn it sooner.

Not true, but I get the premise of your argument...and don't necessarily disagree. Start time and intermission / quarter breaks are set for a reason. Your complaint should be to league admin though, pretty likely that an official who is changing these to fit their schedule won't respond in the affirmative.

I agree. I coach 6th grade my kids get 30 min warm up. If 7 grade game is starting after their start time they get like 5 min. I agree if rule says 3 min overtime that it should be. All that said no one should be on the officials. Let's teach the kids not everything is fair or cut and dry. Play thru the adversities not complain. When u take your mind off just playing hard you stop reaching your potential.
