Cordia Lions return to Frankfort to defend their All A title.

Corida moves on to the All A state tourney from the 14th region.

Cordia missed a bunch of free throws per radio guys but still won handily. But they'll need to straighten that problem out if they're going to make any noise in Frankfort. They had one player who was 0-7.

I know some regions are still playing their All A Tournament, but who are some of the teams who could knock off Cordia?

Cordia is not as good as last year's Lions team. They lost one of their guards to graduation and another starter, Nelson, didn't return for his senior season. But they won't be a pushover by any means. They still have the 6'10 center, plus the Henry kid who is about 6'6 and built like a football linebacker. Good shooting guard MCDonald is back, as is Mercado.

However, they do tend to make a lot of turnovers, and if this game is any indicator they're not great free throw shooters.

Still, they should be one of the favorites to win the tournament.

University heights has played a murderous schedule. One of the toughest in the state. They are getting healthy.

 

I think Bethlehem could be dangerous as well as Newport central catholic. The best 4 teams could be in that pod.

 

Mayfield or Murray from region 1 will be tough. Mayfield beat university heights early in the year. That's the game when Tandy got Hurt for uha

Cordia's first round game will more than likely be against NCC. As I've already mentioned Cordia is not as strong as last year. I think NCC will be favored in that game. If the Lions are fortunate enough to the second round they'll have the luxury of meeting up with UHA. Gonna be a couple of difficult games to start off with.

Assuming they make it out of the 11th region, I think Lexington Christian will be the favorite. Elliott County also should be tough. Beyond those two, I think there are many teams that will be competitive.

Walton-Verona is going be tough also out of the 8th region. They have a nice young team with good coaching Grant Brannen who used to coach at NCC when they were winning the All A back in the day.
