There is a lot of misconceptions about Pennsylvania and Coaching. I grew up there and went to school there before moving to Kentucky for my teaching job several years ago. First off PA teacher pay is one the best in the country and cost of living is very reasonable. However teachers get tenured after their 2nd year, so people do not leave jobs very often. This has created a huge problem when it comes to coaches being in the building. If you are fortunate to get a job along with coaching even if you get fired from coaching, but you survive for 2 years you are set and don't have to give up what pays the bills. Getting a job is super competitive unless you have a relative on the school board good luck getting a job (hence why I took a job here, but I love living here by the way!)

Many head football and other coaches, are Para Pro's or teachers in other school districts, it has become a rare thing to have the head coach as a teacher in the building and this goes for all sports, the team that won the AA basketball title last year there head coach was a state cop! Also pay isn't that much different either, I am from Western PA which as you guys know is a hotbed for high school football and many head coaching stipends run around the 9000-10,000 dollar range.

My point is while there is lots of talent, huge community support and football is still very important to the area, but the good old days of getting hired to just coach and hang around the building have long left Pennsylvania. Once again, I would be surprised though if they don't just hire from within and if I had to throw a prediction I would say current DC James Simpson is your most likely candidate
