The Challenge of Replacing Obamacare

Some of you would be perfect citizens in the 19th century.

But it's the 21st century and this is the richest most powerful nation in the world.

Health insurance is a right.

Just concurring with @Bengal Maniac .

The country's wealth not individuals

That is the disconnect and the fundamental flaw with the left philosophy . Government has zero money , individuals do.

So again what does the wealth of individuals matter to the right of another individual.

Serious question do you believe in freedom ?

By your statements you do not. We are a country of the people and by the people. The individual is not defined by the government the government is defined by the individual. Literally your exact stance is anti freedom.

Individuals do not make a group of people. When you involve the plural then you begin to incorporate the needs of all.

Does providing health coverage for citizens in the US violate freedom?

If we have no money as a country, then why have currency? Why have a budget? I think you are playing semantics here.

It isn't semantics the country does not have money. The country takes from citizens to have money. What we as citizens have to decide is what the government should provide. But to say it's a right for one individual to be provided by another for a service is a fallacy and a misunderstanding of what a right is. A right is a freedom not a product.

Our country was and is defined by the individual not a plural. We as a people out of common decency should want to be charitable, but no one has right to a product paid for by others.

Ok, I use the word right too loosely. Let me put it this way, the wealthiest country on Earth should affordable provide health care to all. No citizen should be denied this provision.

I am sure in the Libertarian state of mind that won't fly. But I don't have that mindset.

Why? Who decides what product others should pay for ? You have a right to life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You do not have the right to equal results of your neighbor.

Just basic human decency comes into play for me. Fruitless discussion because we won't agree.

Maybe that was the mindset with origination, but there is no way this country would not have progressed to level it has without a direction of what is best for the nation not just the individual.

What does public education fall under the "pursuit of happiness?"

Then I would think healthcare falls under "life."
