Inside the 9th Region (12/19)

I believe in coaching the team you have and not the team you want. I demand our defensive effort exceeds or matches our offensive effort. If you don't play D you won't play. I prefer to play inside out rather than rely on the long jump shot.

Now that my freind is a good philosophy.

In the Lloyd/Williamstown thread no one could seem to expand on Hamilton's role in this loss for the Juggs. If he didn't play many minutes, that in itself is telling, but no more details other than that have ever been offered. :idunno:

And I suppose none ever will. :idunno:

You simply expect too much of us. I guess there's always the possibility I was wrong in my observation too. :idunno:

I didn't even remember who it was who had said that he had limited minutes, so I wasn't asking anyone in particular. Was just hoping that someone out here could expand on it then it would explain a lot as to why Lloyd lost to Williamstown. Hamilton is one of their most dependable scorers so things like injuries entered my mind. Wasn't aiming the question at you specifically, just anyone who might know something.

I know you weren't. Just trying to add some levity. If perception is reality, Hamilton didn't play a full slate of minutes. I expected him to play the role Toebbe played this afternoon and produce similar results.

Actually I'm now able to see the stats at KHSAA for that game and it looks like he played enough to get off 10 shot attempts. Even Cipollone wasn't exactly tearing up the nets either. Most of their output game from Neal and McClendon so perhaps they used that game as a way to get everybody more involved and aim for long term success by increasing their scoring options. I imagine that any team scouting them aims to shut down Hamilton and Cipollone. The Juggs have great potential but perhaps right now they're going through some of the growing pains of learning.

I'd really like to believe Coach Key gave Cip the reigns and he was overly passive in his return to Williamstown, just trying to make the right plays.

His teammates' output suggest that's what happened, but I think Lloyd is better off when he's the aggressor.

Interesting point. I had forgotten that he was once at Williamstown. I like his game, and I agree that if he's running the show this completely benefits the Juggs.

Just a thought. He's certainly more of a threat than the six points he scored in that game.

Also, I'd like to clarify that I'm just making observations and assumptions. Coach Key has run a pretty good program up there over the last number of years and has a real shot at a trip to Frankfort this season, along with a nice run at BB&T arena.

I agree. If there ever was a year in recent memory that Lloyd could win the All A, and/or put on a good show in the 9th Region Tournament it would be this one. I sure hope that they do. I dig seeing some new blood every once in a while. Loved it the years that Ryle, St. Henry, and Newport won the 9th Region especially because in the early goings those seasons nobody saw it coming. OK a stretch to think that they could get past Cooper or CovCath, but definitely a good chance of being the All A champ.
