Baseball Nut 24 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Very entertaining game tonight in Latonia. S. Oldham jumps out to an early 12 point lead only to see the Indians tie the game at 32 mid way through the 2nd. Then after leading by 7 at the half the Dragons go on another big run to start the 3rd and would go up by 21. Then the Indians would erase almost all of that lead getting as close as 3 with 2 minutes left only to see the Dragons hit free throws down the stretch to win by 9. The Dragons connected on 14 three pointers while the Indians hit 10. S. Oldham unofficial scoring leaders Hoover 23 Griffin 20 Young 18 Beyerle 8 Holy Cross Volpenhein 22 Zimmerman 17 Niehaus 10 Schrand 9
Baseball Nut 24 Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 Holy Cross played without 2nd leading scorer and top rebounder Ty Houston who was sick.
lamontab Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 HC needs to try something new. 0-5 is not acceptable.
B-Ball-fan Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 HC needs to try something new. 0-5 is not acceptable. They lost to a good team tonight, but they showed a lot of guts coming back after being down by a wide margin twice. They're taking some early season lumps in finding themselves, but all in all it sounds like they're coming around. They have a big test again with Scott tomorrow night and could very well lose that one too, but even with this 0-5 start I believe they are a legitimate top 10 team in the 9th and by season's end could arguably be anywhere from 6-10.

You can't win if you can't play defense. Our come back was against their 2nd team once they put the starters back in the lead increased.
tskelfly Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 The nice thing about South is from night to night you never know who will have the hot hand - Young, Franklin, Hoover - all capable of 20+ to go along with Joe Griffin's 20+, throw in Beyerly who can get hot from outside and the Freshman Morrison who has been money from the foul line and you have a tough task to game plan defensively. Will be interesting to see how they play defense against Penney on Thursday night.
Baseball Nut 24 Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 Good post BBallFan. I agree 100%. S. Oldham is a very good team that could easily get back to Rupp Arena. Holy Cross could have folded twice and got embarrassed but they didn't. Coming back against their 2nd team "comment" is very inaccurate. S. Oldham only subbed 2 guys most of the night so how did HC make their comeback twice against 2nd string? Griffin, Young and Franklin were on court 95% of the game. Do changes need to be made with lineup and/or rotations probably....but don't fault the kids that were in the rotation that battled back twice against a really good team. Lamontab I'll talk to you more offline if you want.
Baseball Nut 24 Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 Congrats to S. Oldham and best of luck rest of the season. Very good team. Griffin is as good as advertised.

They will only do well if they are put into position to successful.
