Charlie Strong to USF

Since Strong is not coaching the Bulls in the Bowl game, I hope he is shoring up the commits. Taggart is not going to lollygag and will do all he can to tear down that wall he's built around Tampa, the last 4 years.

I also learned tonight, that he has spoken to most, if not all, of the commits either by phone or in person.

Hasn't Judson changed his recruiting status about 4 or 5 times?

Honestly I'm not sure, somehow I stumbled across that article while on a UK recruiting site and figured I would post it here. The only way I could see him going to Oregon is if him and Taggart are as close as the article says. Oregon is a long way from South Florida though and I honestly don't see the kid making the move to Eugene. As long as Charlie makes a good impression on the kid I imagine he will end up at USF.

Here is the introduction press conference. Right now the link is raw, so you'll have to go to about the 10:28 mark before the conference actually starts.

2 things stand out.

He is highly complementary of Willie Taggart and what was left behind.

He said it. On Campus Stadium. It's going to happen.

I should have said Charlie Strong has spoken to most, if not all, of the commits either by phone or in person.

Happy for ole Chuck. I think he'll do well there, and I'm sure he's glad to be back in Florida.

His wife is from Lakeland and her family lives there. Lelo Prado told me he is pretty sure that Strong will settle out that way. Lots of "exclusive" areas under construction on the I-4 corridor between Tampa and Lakeland. Also, Polk County's property taxes are nominal compared to Hillsborough (Tampa) and Pinellas County (St. Pete/Clearwater).

He could also move up into Pasco County. Same tax breaks and there are some really nice areas up that way, too, in Wesley Chapel and New Tampa. I will have to yield to @LongTimeReader for that region, though. :D

I understand that by mentioning Lelo Prado, I'm name dropping, but I just want to convey that I am not pulling my information out of my posterior.

The Wesley Chapel is expanding like crazy! The new Outlet mall and developments around are going to do some great things for the area. They're also building a new Ice Hockey arena and there has been "talk" a baseball complex being built, but it has fallen through a number of times.

If the Strong family moves to the New Tampa/Wesley Chapel area they will be roughly 20-30 minutes away from the university, depending on when he leaves it could be closer to 15 minutes. Neighborhoods like Tampa Palms and Hunter's Green in the New Tampa area should have plenty of houses that would fit his life style.

Yes, he has been all over the place.

I love University President Judy Genshaft for all she has done for the school during her tenure, but girl, you need to back away from the botox.

New OC is Sterling Gilbert, from Strong's Texas staff. Matt Mattox rumored to also be coming from Texas to coach the O-Line. Shame. I liked what Darren Hiller did with that group last season.

Marlon Mack declared for the NFL Draft, today. He is projected as a 3rd or 4th round pick depending on which service you look at. Can't blame him.
