Not surprised at all. This may be Conners year in the ninth. They still need to figure out Highlands and Holmes, but they could win it. CC shouldn't be worried, Conner is a top team in the ninth.

How many FTs did Hurst shoot? I know she is an outstanding 3 point shooter. If she can consistently create FT opportunities she will be a more consistent scorer - and I believe one of the top scorers in the area.

 

Hurst doesn't take it to the basket much. What free throws she attempts usually come off steals at the top of the full court press and getting fouled going to the basket. Jordan and Burcham are slashers who go the line more but Hurst is more a streaky spot up shooter. Against North Hardin she attempted 16 3s connecting on 5 of them but after a slow 1st half she hit I believe 4 in a row coming out in the 2nd half.

I am shocked by this one. I know Conner is strong, but I really felt Campbell would handle them by 10-15 points. Congrats to the Cougars!

23 total turnovers will do that to you. It was just one of those nights. The Lady Camels will move on from that game and be ready for the next one. The Camels never stopped playing as they won the second half and had a good 4th qtr to cut the lead to 3 with 7 seconds to go so to have 23 turnovers and still be in the game in end says something about how hard they continue to work. Conner is a really good team and I think they will have a great season and they will be a tough matchup for anyone they play within their region and outside their region. Wow, 16 three point attempts? I've heard the Conner coach let's her shoot away whenever. She connected on 3-4 in our game, but only shot 7-8 times. But her overall 3pt percentage isn't amazing, last season she shot less than 30% according to khsaa stats, so I wonder why a coach would let a player go 4/16 like that? Doubt she shoots many free throws either during the season, slashing to the basket, that's not something she could probably do well. As you mentioned Jordan and Burcham are slashers for Conner, they are harder to stay in front of.

 

Conner was impressive in their overall talent, a lot of good players. CC didn't have the depth to stay with them. But our younger talent is coming along, by the end of the season we will be able to compete with most teams and challenge for the regional title.
