Final was at game little sloppy but good win for Mercer to start season.

Where did Mercer look good? It sounded like their press caused Shelby some problems. How did Faulkner do? Who looked good for Mercer?

Even though they won by 19, Mercer did not look all that good in doing so. They gave Shelby a lot of problems in the first quarter with the Press went up 17 points and then Shelby countyl pretty much played even with them the rest of the game. Mercer very very sloppy missing several gimmes. Not one of Shelby's stronger teams for sure.

 

Travon probably had 30+...Gillis 15 if not more. Lots of hustle just very sloppy right now. Definitely gonna have to shore that up against the better teams, but just first game so they have a lot of time to work on it.

As I said a sloppy game especially with Mercer's two top players only having 2 full practices and wit ha new coach and system. Played hard I think part of the reason for big lead then evened out Mercer kids not in basketball game shape yet a better test will be in a little less than two weeks when they will play Paris. Another thing is Faulkner will need to be a lot more assertive this year than last he doesn't have the talent around him he had last year.

I don't think we'll need to worry about Trevon being assertive. If he wasn't assertive tonight I'd say it was because he has only had one week of practice with a new coach.

I agree just a couple times on fastbreaks he gave the ball up instead of finishing that is just adjusting to a different talent level this season.
