November 15, 20169 yr With everyone now predicting a QB-less Michigan to lose to Ohio St, Penn St (with losses to Pitt and Michigan) and Wisconsin (with losses to Michigan and Ohio St) are on a collision course to the B1G championship game. - Penn St. still has to handle Rutgers and Michigan St, but if they do so they advance over Ohio St to the Title game from the East. - Wisconsin with games against Purdue and Minnesota looks to slide in from the west. So my question is, if one of these two come out of the B1G Title Game with an 11-2 record do they really deserve to get in over a possible one loss Ohio State or a one loss Louisville or even a Big12 Champ WVU if they finish with just 1 loss? If the committee is actually going to pick the 4 Best Teams, then IMO...a 1 loss Ohio St, Louisville or WVU all deserve to get in over the B1G champ.
November 15, 20169 yr Committee would have a very hard time justifying putting Ohio State in over Penn State in that scenario. They've shown that winning the conference title carries a lot of weight. I think either get in over OSU due to that.
November 15, 20169 yr Author Committee would have a very hard time justifying putting Ohio State in over Penn State in that scenario. They've shown that winning the conference title carries a lot of weight. I think either get in over OSU due to that. You are probably right, but the committee has also said repeatedly they are simply looking for the 4 best teams at the end of the year, if true it would be hard to justify either of them getting in. How do they drop Ohio St from #2 if they don't lose again...committee has to know there is a very slim chance that they get to the B1G title game.
November 15, 20169 yr I think Wisconsin deserves it because their overall schedule has been stronger, but they don't have a win over OSU. It's tricky though. At this point if Penn State wins the B1G the B1G gets left out. You can't put OSU in if Penn State wins the B1G with their win over OSU. Penn State winning is a doomsday scenario for the B1G.
November 15, 20169 yr With that said though Wisconsin deserves it more than a Pac 12 Champ Washington and a Big 12 Champ Oklahoma/ WVU.
November 15, 20169 yr Didn't the committee already prove that the conference championship carries a ton of weight when they left out TCU and Baylor two years ago?
November 15, 20169 yr With that said though Wisconsin deserves it more than a Pac 12 Champ Washington and a Big 12 Champ Oklahoma/ WVU. Disagree with that. Washington deserves it more than Wisconsin or Penn State.
November 15, 20169 yr Author With that said though Wisconsin deserves it more than a Pac 12 Champ Washington and a Big 12 Champ Oklahoma/ WVU. If WVU runs the table they deserve serious consideration.
November 15, 20169 yr Author Didn't the committee already prove that the conference championship carries a ton of weight when they left out TCU and Baylor two years ago? That came down also to not being able to pick one over the other because they were so close, easier to justify another team then one of them over the other one.
November 15, 20169 yr Author Yes, they do. Explain PSU being more deserving than Louisville for example, if both win out. Looking just at games and teams not trophies.
November 15, 20169 yr I think Sparty will beat PSU so this is a moot point IMO. Have you watched Michigan State play this year? They are atrocious.
November 15, 20169 yr Author I think Sparty will beat PSU so this is a moot point IMO. Well that would clear it all up, so would a Michigan win over Ohio St.
