Bellevue to celebrate 70 years of Civic Stadium history

Featured Replies

Everyone should come out and see these festivities. I have heard that Bellevue High School is bringing back 7 or 8 athletes that were on the 1936 BHS football. This should be a fun evening on top of the Tigers downing Ludlow in a big win.

That sounds great. I love when they have events such as this honoring the history of the schools and programs. SK had a 40 a few weekends ago and it was a big success.

Sounds like a great evening and I'm happy that you picked the Ludlow game to celebrate 70 great years at BHS. There has been many a good battle between the 2 schools over the years. I would suggest that you enjoy the festivities early though because I'm not sure to many Bellevue fans are going to enjoy the outcome of the game..;) Ludlow 21 Bellevue 14

Pretty quick to assume that Bellevue wins the game arent you.... Thats really great about the festivities because that might be the only thing Bellevue wants to remember after that game, because I believe Ludlow will end up ruining that night by beating Bellevue for the 3rd time in 4 years....

Getting back to the topic of the thread.... this is a great night for Bellevue Football....I know Mr. Alexander and although he has had some bad health recently he shared some outstanding stories with me last time I saw him. Nothing like a guy in his late 80's talking about high school athletics with a youngin like myself.

Save the smack for a gamethread.

 With all due respect gryche11 but the smack was thrown down by Btownguy I do believe and not someone from the opposing side.. This seems to be something that happens from time to time with the Bellevue crowd when it comes to their assumptions. Must I remind anyone of some hats I believe that had been printed up with Champions on them by someone representing your girls basketball program when in reality they were CO-Champs. along with the Ludlow Lady Panthers after losing their conference final to the Panthers.:dancingpa .

Anyway back to the main topic of the thread and it does sound like a nice evening and here is hoping for a good hard fought game by both sides..And remember gryche11 it's all in fun..:ylsuper:;)

Yes buckman41ss I agree and it sounds like a great evening regardless of whatever team you want to win..

Grew up in the east end of Newport in the '50's. When the Wildcats weren't playing at home, we'd walk across the creek and "hook-in" to the Bellevue game at Gilligan Stadium. Great times, great stadium and great teams, ala Jim Fulmer, Steele Harmon, Ronnie Mendell and the running back who starred at Army------(forgot his name) plus a bunch of others. Loved those nights. Great occassion for Bellevue!!!!

I always think that teams need to tie into their traditions and past. This will be a good way for current and future Bellevue Tigers, to have the opportunity to tie into that past and tradition of all the Bellevue greats.
