Louisville 78 Evansville 47

Cards overcome a sluggish start. Career highs in points and rebounds for Jaylen Johnson.

Took Louisville's frontcourt players a bit to get going. They may be in real trouble against teams with actual size and strength. Hopefully can find themselves by the end of December.

I saw a quick recap of the game on ESPN - Ray Spalding looks like he's gained a bit of weight (yay!). Love that kid, can't wait to watch him and the basketball Cards play this season.

The guy has a solid game. Just can't seem to find a rhythm. Had one great play last night where he went up to grab a rebound and passed it across the lane to a wide open Mathiang for a dunk before he even hit the floor. He also does a great job of getting in passing lanes and getting deflections.

He just always seems like a player from a different time. He's so slim that he looks like he's playing in the 60s. I think it's just impossible for him to pack anything on that frame.

Long way to go, but after watching all the games last night, Louisville is nowhere near being ready to competing with the big boys yet.

That's the bad news. The good news is they have the coach and the schedule to get ready to compete before getting bludgeoned. The strength / brutality of the ACC schedule allows Rick to schedule soft & at home in DEC which gives him lots of time to practice & try different combinations based on game performance. When they hit JAN they are starting to get better.

Doesn't work very well dealing with Calipari & IDIOT UK fans that just want to scream about head-to-head DEC matchups. Pitino ought to just say that going into the UK game and then move on OR move it to Rivalry Week in FEB (which neither team or conference wants).

That is the thing about college basketball that people never seem to understand and it drives me nuts. Whatever happens in November and December means absolutely NOTHING.
