November 3, 20169 yr My cat is a garage/outdoor cat. She had a brief issue, but I purchased and applied Sentry or something on her and maintained it, and her issue went away. I used something similar with the dogs, and they have not had an issue. It was a warm wet winter last year, and I agree there were lots of flies and fleas this year. We have 5 dogs at our home right now and Nexguard, Heartguard and/or Trifexis would break the bank...that is why I administered the topical....scratch, scratch.
November 4, 20169 yr Knock-on-wood, we haven't had any issues this year. We live on the edge of the woods, so fleas and ticks can become problematic as it was the first year in our house. I spray the backyard each spring with Sevin, and have never had a problem since. The dogs have flea medicine, but we're not very good with keeping up on it.
November 13, 20169 yr I heard a guy talking at the card game and he said his 3 year old niece got fleas from the dog and they are having trouble getting rid of them. Someone told him to have them wash her hair is Dawn dish soap, anyone ever heard of suggestions to get rid of fleas on people?
November 13, 20169 yr My dog had problems with it last year, but thankfully not this year. We normally use a topical preventative, but when it is bad, I give her Comfortis. It's a pill that I've watched start working within 30 minutes.

I've heard of using Dawn on dogs, so it would probably work on people, too. It's likely in her bedding and clothing. Flea bombing the house and washing all clothing is probably in order. They may have to do it twice, due to the eggs hatching. That's my unqualified opinion, of course.

Someone told him to have them wash her hair is Dawn dish soap, anyone ever heard of suggestions to get rid of fleas on people? Dawn soap is the safest method and it works. I found 2 stray kittens a while back that were infested with fleas. Dawn soap cleared them right up. I would assume she has them in her hair, so lather it up and let it sit for a few minutes as it will suffocate the fleas. Then rinse and she can wash with shampoo. From there, the house must be bombed to get rid of them. Put enough bombs in the house to cover everywhere. Afterwards, vacuum really well and seal the materials swept up before throwing away just in case any survived. Then they have to clean the house top to bottom. I had to do this a few times growing up due to my sisters bringing in stray cats. It worked every time.
November 13, 20169 yr That's pretty much what others told him he should tell them do. I had just nevered heard of that before, as I have never had that problem.
