What are your thoughts on the final Bluegrasspreps Class 1A Ranking of 2016? Beechwood moves up, possible where they have belonged for a long time. Are they better then Paintsville? What will happen when the Blue Tigers have the rematch with Raceland? Is Pikeville or Russellville going to surprise someone? Who makes it all the way? Who disappoints?

I like the order based on what the teams have done this year. Only thing I would do is switch Russellville and Raceland. I know Raceland took Paintsville to overtime, but I actually think Russellville and Beechwood are the 2 best teams in Class A

Pikeville has been very quite for the past month.

The Panthers biggest issue early in the season was their Offensive line play (they had a handful of key players out to start the season) and they also struggled stopping the run.

The line play should be much better, the Run Defense though...... that is still the mystery.

I still put them a Distant 3rd as the favorites from the East and think they are closer to Hazard than they are Paintsville, but keep an eye on them to see if Coach MacNamee has remedied some of their ills.

They also have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

From all accounts, it looks as if those ills have been remedied as a few good starters have returned to contribute throughout the 2nd season. Being at home during the playoffs is a plus as well.

Based on what's happened late in the season, I believe that Russellville and Beechwood are the top two. However, I believe that the playoffs will get very interesting from the quarter finals on. Anyone in the top five is more than capable IMO.
