Nelson County/Tates Creek Predictions

Featured Replies

Both teams vastly improved from last year, but Tates Creek shows it more in the win column. Game is at Nelson, where crowd helped Cardinals to big opening day win over Bullitt East. Who wins this "reviving-program" game?

From my point of view, it's hard to say who will win this game. I have been cautiously optimistic about TC all year. I thought they would lose a couple of their first four. I haven't seen any tape of Nelson Co. yet, and don't know much about them. I went to the game between the two schools last year, and Nelson Co., looked really bad, but TC looked really bad in some other games too. If I had to make a prediction, based on the game being at Nelson Co., I'll go TC 21 Nelson Co. 20.

I'm really glad Nelson Co., and TC are enjoying better seasons this year, because when I played at TC we were always very good, and I remember Nelson Co., not as a team in the cellar, but as that mid-90's program that was excellent.

I think Nelson County will be in over their heads against Tates Creek. TC has 3-0, with wins over Ballard and Madison Central (a team many on BGP seem to be impressed with). Nelson is 1-2, with losses to Butler (28-14) and a 28-0 thrashing by Bardstown. In my mind, Butler is probably on par with Ballard.

The only compensating factor for this game is the fact that it is being played at Nelson County. Nevertheless, I look for Tates Creek to win by 2-3 TDs.

I know the Cards are a long way from perfect, but I think they'll bounce back this week. I look for a close game...21-14 Nelson.

Tates Creek - 28

Nelson County - 18

Whats is TC defense like? If its anything close to good, it will shut NC down. Bruner has to open up the offense if it just means passing 4-8 times more per game because the opposing D is just packing the box and shutting NC down.

Also, isnt TC RB supposed to be good, Sparks I believe. That will be the key matchup, Sparks vs. NC D.

TC 35

NC 7

Nelson County - 28

Tates Creek - 24

Tates Creek 21-14.

Ty Sparks, is probably the best running back in Lexington. If Nelson Co., cannot pass the ball, they are in deep, deep, trouble, that has always been TC's weakness on D.

#40 FB is very good as well.

Tates Creek's defense is okay. The problem is not their D, but it is the offense. They run the ball so much that your offense can never get the ball. They chew up clock with long drives. That puts a lot of pressure on your offense. Nelson better make the most of their possessions or they will get beat.

Then this ought to be an interesting contest. Nelson County dominated time of possession against Bardstown and got 126 yards from its fullback, #26 Devin Boone. Fed him the rock on 70% of their plays. Just couldn't put it in the end zone, got to the 30, bad pitch, big penalty, whatever.

With two teams who love to chew the clock, this could be the fastest game on record.

Over at about 9:15?

When I was leaving the Bardstown/Nelson game there was about 1:21 left and I remember looking at the clock and it was 9:15..
