Game day. This thread has been a little quiet. Any last minute thoughts or predictions? What are the key matchups to watch tonight? Does either team have an advantage that is going to give the other team problems?

 

Tough to get too much talk when teams have a true respect for one another. I hate losing to Beechwood, but ALWAYS respect the way they play

I see the wild card in this game being Henschen running the ball. If Beechwood can keep him from being effective running the ball, the odds are the Tigers will win.

I remain shocked at the Poll in this one. Maybe I'm the one that is off-base, but I feel like Beechwood wins this one.

So often games like this come down to matchups. I haven't seen Newport Catholic, but reading comments in this thread and others indicate that Newport Catholic struggles with pass defense and passing is Beechwood's strength this year. Other comments tell me the matchups in this game favor Beehhwood. That makes me think Beechwood has a pretty good chance of winning this one, and also makes me wonder about the poll like MTGL. Are we missing something? Where is New Cath's advantage in this game?

I don't know if NewCath has a true advantage. They stop the run very well so maybe they can make Beechwood one dimensional and blitz more but other than that, I don't really see one.

I have seen both teams play more than once, and nothing jumps off the page at me.

NewCath run game vs. Beechwood pass game, whoever defends the other the best, wins.

Like you VOR, I have not seen NC. But, my sense tells me NC wins the trenches, DBs for BW make a ton of tackles, and Bunch better be able to throw on the run. This could be a great game. Hope someone is really active with updates. Hate to miss this one.

You may have hit on it right there. Pressure Burch and push him out of the pocket. Beechwood offensive line has got to protect Burch and that will be a key matchup to watch.
