October 19, 20169 yr I need a new desktop for work. I'm not interested in graphics. I need a good workstation with enough memory and power to run 2-3 applications at once and support 3-5 other users who have to pull data and store files on my machine. I'm not sure how much RAM I need and I am confused by all the processor options. I am considering a Dell XPS 8910 with Intel Core i7 processor, 8M Cache, 1 DIMM 16GB 2133 mhz DDr4 memory and 1TB hard drive. The 1TB will be plenty of storage. I had heard good things about solid state drives vs hard drives, but they seem to be a lot more expensive and I'm not sure if the added cost is worth it. Anybody have any input?
October 19, 20169 yr The old go to for computer issues for me is none other than @swamprat because his computer spread looks like something out of a movie to me.:lol2:
October 19, 20169 yr Author I wish I lived somewhere in the real world where I could just hire a local Tech guy to do it all, but out here in the boonies you have to be a Jack of all trades. Yesterday I was an electrician and maintenance man.
October 19, 20169 yr I would go with real wood versus laminate. Kidding aside, Do the solid state. My work computer just got upgraded and it is so much quicker especially on start up.
