Cards15 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hill kid has yet to play a full season and you guys have him ranked 1st. Got to be kiddin
HoopJunkie Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Fern Creek has to be the favorite in the region. Doss and PRP will be factors. Bullitt East will give some people fits. On the player rankings, Jaylon Hall is the best player in the region. Travis Dunnavan from North Bullitt and Jared Osborne from Bullitt East will have eye opening seasons.
GoHardITP Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hill is very impressive, he has the size, speed, & skill set few have. He has played this summer against talent that is beyond what we see here in Jefferson County and did very well. I don't think it is too far of a stretch to suggest he is the best player in the region. He holds several D1 offers which few in the region have. On past high school production he has less to show because he has sat last season, but he started his entire freshmen year at Fern Creek.

And has won 6th region 2 years in a row. He should be 2nd at the worst. But I'm a believer in body of work.
Northstar85 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Saw Bullitt East multiple times this summer. If they're the 10th best team in the 6th region, I want to see Jeffersontown, Butler, and North Bullitt. Fern Creek has been the popular team when it comes to hype. Can they finally do it this year? They got a transfer from Eastern that should put them over the top, but it remains to be seen. PRP had an uncharacteristic down year last season. They'll be in the thick of things. And Tony Williams always has Doss in a great position.

But I'm a believer in body of work. Jaylon should be much closer to the top, no doubt. You could make a case for several to be at the top. As in any discussion, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so it depends upon what you are looking for. Hiil, Hall, & Moore all are D1 players when it is all said & done. Fern Creek's Wales is committed to a D1 school as a junior and Price will play D1 basketball. Several others in the 6th could as well. The talent this year in the 6th is up and Fern Creek may be the favorite, but the road to the region championship has to go through Doss. Tony Williams has the belt and until you take it away his Dragons should not be taken lightly. They should be ranked higher.
GoHardITP Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hill kid has yet to play a full season and you guys have him ranked 1st. Got to be kiddin "You guys" would be the coaches who responded to the survey sent out by Cats Pause by the way. Not sure if you were aware the coaches who respond determine the rankings of teams and players.
ColtPride1 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 DeSales will be tough, no doubt. Seems like Doss is always a scary team imho they should be 2. Butler at 3? Do they have some transfers or something?
mooremiller31 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Doss will be much better then this ranking. I understand the hype around Fern Creek but until someone beats Doss when it matters I will take them. They were rated low last preseason as well. Coach Williams gets the most out of those guys.
Northstar85 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 "You guys" would be the coaches who responded to the survey sent out by Cats Pause by the way. Not sure if you were aware the coaches who respond determine the rankings of teams and players. I wonder what percentage of coaches responded to the survey. Not just in the 6th, but around the state. Looking at the other regions, there seems to be a lot of questionable team rankings
6thregionguy Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Who wrote the preview. The guy in the past was awful didn't even have some of the correct coaches on teams, was very half &*^. Not every coach gets a survey/email/phone call, just a few.
BasketballJunkie3 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I wouldn't take much stock into what the Cats Pause says about any region. But I do think it's funny watching coaches, parents and fans get their feelings hurt by random pre-season rankings. I would say it's pretty damn hard to do any kind of season preview anymore because of the tons and tons of transfers that are occurring everywhere...(might be a reason why the quality of play in this state is way down too)

6thregionguy Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Preseason rankings and predictions are always fun to read. Anything that is getting information out there to help high school sports is good. My only problem is when the people who write them can't even do enough research to get things correct as who is on what team and who is coaching were.
