If Florida State would have won last week, I think they would have looked past the Bulls. I still think the Seminoles are going to go in overconfident and get beat.

This game will feature two of the most productive running backs in Florida collegiate history. FSU’s Dalvin Cook ranks 20th on the state’s all-time rushing list with 2,927 yards. USF's Marlon Mack is 22nd (2,595 yards).

 

The Gulf Coast offense will look a lot like what Louisville threw at FSU last Saturday, only more passing. It employs a spread-out, zone-read attack, and fast paced style. Last year they averaged almost 34 points a game.

 

QB Quinton Flowers is capable of 200 yards running and 200 yards passing. He had 201 yards rushing against SMU last year and almost 1000 rushing yards for the season. Quinton averaged 253 total yards a game, last season. He is most dangerous when flushed from the pocket, but Flowers does have accuracy issues at times. Last year, he had 22 TDs and 8 INTs.

 

The Bulls have a bevy of speedy wide receivers, led by Rodney Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Look for many reverses and jet sweeps.

 

USF will also counter Mack with straight ahead runner Darius Tice and sure handed D'Ernest Johnson. Johnson is a dangerous receiver out of the backfield who received 2 TD passes in Tallahassee, last year. DJ returned a punt 83 yards for a TD last week against Syracuse and is capable of throwing downfield accurately.

 

The Bull Shark Defense is led by Junior Auggie Sanchez, who is 13th in the nation in tackles, and Senior Nigel Harris, who leads the team in tackles for loss. USF had 25 take aways last year, 17 interceptions and 8 fumble recoveries. It is characterized as a swarming 4-2-5. The safeties worry me, though.
