Welcome to HS soccer... you have to be flexible with your line ups. Most schools don't have the depth that Cov cath has always had the luxury of. So I don't see this as an excuse for the result.

I've also heard this from others, from what I have seen I would also agree.

 

From my perspective, there seems to be some juggling of people to come up with the best lineup and rotation, which is perfectly understandable. To me, the most obvious one has yet to be placed on the field.

You guessed wrong, CCH did not play their best 11, at any time last night, they didn't and they couldn't. The "didn't" I can't answer, the "couldn't", one of these best 11 was unable to play last night.

While I do believe that CCH did have more possession in the first half of the game, at the same time, they didn't do anything with that possession. They had a couple of decent, half chances, but nothing threatening. HHS goalkeeper Paul Tully made a decent save towards the end of the 1st half that kept the game at 0-0. HHS came out strong for the first 10 minutes, but looked tired. Stava and Vogt kept the defense together nicely.

 

For the second half, HHS came to play. Many combination plays between Dolezal, Gish, and Mills seemed to be the biggest threat of the game. Those three will make a deep run for HHS for the Region 9 title. I know Gish and Dolezal have combined for a majority of the assists for the team (I believe 15). Those three players combined for the game winning goal that was working beautifully from a corner kick. Gish played a short corner to Dolezal who took his sweet time, providing a tremendous cross. Mills did the rest and put HHS up 2-1.

 

Overall, the game was very intense and exciting. Both teams have plenty of compliments to take away from this game. Region 9 is completely wide open. I expect CCH, Ryle, and HHS to be the top dogs this year.

Cru hosting Brossart tonight at 6:30. St. Henry's is very talented and should definitely be part of the conversation in the 9th Region.

Sounds to me like the Highlands fans/players have already counted you guys out of the equation. That's unfortunate.

I'm not part of the Cru. Looks like Highlands has shown they will eliminate the Colonels as well though.

But I do wish good luck to all of the 9th Region contenders. Shaping up to be a fun end of the season for all NKY teams.

I do think that Cru has put together a solid team this year, but I also think there are better teams who can outperform them when it means the most. No matter what team comes out of Region 9, I will be happy for them. It is always nice seeing NKY teams at state. BUT my original three teams (CCH, Ryle, HHS), I think have the better chance at taking home the Region 9 title, and making a deep run at state.

 

That is just my opinion. I do not have anything against Cru. Maybe I will be wrong about my prediction...
