Open enrollment absolutely hurts Scott. I personally know 4 players in my own neighborhood that are borderline players at sk that rarely see the field that are good enough to start at Scott and be solid contributors. They opt for open enrollment rather than attending Scott. Kids right now are opting to stand on the sidelines for 4 years hoping for a state championship. The irony is if a few of them attended Scott each year the would get to actually play AND get a chance for a ring. Until this stigma goes away it is likely to be this way.

 

About the game: Scott's best offensive and defensive player was out with injury. They started a qb that has never played the position before and had 2 days of practice to learn a few plays. A majority of the team consists of sophomores and juniors. All things considered I felt they never quit and continued to battle despite the result. Conner is a solid team but this game is no measuring stick.

Nobody has transferred from Scott to SK! Matter of fact Scotts starting wr came from SK Muck! On top of that Cooper has a lineman who transferred from SK Phoenix Stanley!

They didn't transfer from Scott. In 8th grade they have the option to opt for open enrollment at a school outside their assigned district school. They live in Scott's district but apply to go to sk or even Dixie (but more often sk). They are accepted at that point to begin freshman year as an open enrollment student.

All 3 KC high schools have benefited from open enrollment a time or two.

You have to admit that the majority of time it is one sided. As mentioned previously I know at least 4 kids in my own neighborhood who live in the Scott district that are at SK. Scott has about 25 total players so clearly 4 marginal 6a but solid 4a players would make a huge difference. Happy my kid chose to have an opportunity to play rather than be a sideline bystander when he was there. Kids are missing their only chance to play school ball. Not blaming SK. Not their fault kids opt to go there. Scott needs to somehow change their image despite being a good school with outstanding facilities.

You may be correct, but as long as there is a spot and the student is in good standing. At least that is basically what I read on an application a few years ago.
