I just hope Highlands comes away from this game healthy. Getting some major injuries now will not help the cause for Highlands.

Is it really a good idea to stop playing teams just because they are beating you? The 6 A teams they play that are local should be making them better for district play. If highlands switches to playing smaller local teams the experience won't be the same in most cases. If they play similar size schools around the state they have to travel farther. I admit that right now it's not ideal and not what people are used to seeing but i think it is still the best way to prepare them for a run at a state title. BG isn't getting any smaller

I didnt say smaller did I? I just said teams they could compete with. Perhaps Conner, Boone, Scott and maybe even some Ohio teams.

Leave Ohio across that god forsaken puddle. And the birds haven't shown this year that they cannot play with the big schools. A track meet with Cooper, last second field goal in a lack luster performance at CC. Let's wait and see how this week and the next few go before the towel is thrown in.

3 picked HHS so far. I wonder if they picked them just so they don't want to be seen picking against the Bluebirds or if they truly believe the birds can win. I will lean to the first reason.

Let me start by saying I "hate" Highlands. I hate their program for being decades ahead of all No. Ky. I hate the legacy of Homer Rice, Owen Hauck, Dale Mueller and all those other great coaches and assistant coaches that added to the legacy of excellence that went through North Ft. Thomas for the last 60+ years. I hate more how slow the rest of us in No. Ky. were to learn from our annual beat-downs at the hands of the Birds. You guys have built a standard of excellence that all No. Ky. envies and are just now catching up to. Lots of chest pounding now going on by those that have been behind you guys for so long. Hope you take it as the ultimate compliment!

 

In fact, I "love" the Highlands program for the level the rest of No. Ky. football has been elevated to, to avoid those annual beatdowns. Go Birds! Thanks for your program of excellence.

We were not in agreement. I believe those that scheduled Highlands this two year cycle will go back to ducking them on the next cycle.

Getting any injuries anytime hurt most teams. Unfortunately it's part of football.

 

Sometimes you have depth to minimize what the injuries do to your team and sometimes you don't! Sometimes you make it through a season without many major injuries and sometimes you don't. It's all a part of football and making adjustments throughout the season. HHS can't afford injuries, multiple penalties or any other kind of hurdles this particular season. If they stay healthy and clean up their game, they will be fine. If they have injuries, then that is something outside their control and next man up will have to step up! It's a long season. They'll be ready when they need to be. It's like I tell the girls. We have 36 scrimmages to get ready for the season!

I'll take a stab at the outcome. If the birds score 28 and come up with three turnovers....they will win in a close one.

Next year the Birds will be loaded with several studs who are already playing varsity and JV as Jrs and Sophs. Not to mention several current freshman who could earn Varsity min as Sophs.

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I've already seen improvement over last years team. I think this years team is much better than last years team. I don't know how many underclassmen are seeing playing time this year but if it is a good number then HHS has nothing to worry about and will be competitive the way they are used to being competitive sooner rather than later.

The offense alone is head and shoulders better than the offense we saw last year when it comes to scoring anyway.

I have been looking at this for about a day, im still not sure why it is a laughing matter. I would think the 6 A teams would be happy if the birds only beat one of them this year. It's like you are saying "alright, now we have one more thing that separates us from our fathers and older brothers" (insert celebratory high five here)
