The passing attack of Capital High School, WV will meet the ground game of Johnson Central at Eagle Field this Friday night. Both teams are coming off a state championship game appearance and both ranked #2 in their respective classes (3A being as high as WV goes). Who you got and why?

Wanna learn more about JC Football, Records, Every opponent they have ever played with scores? Check the files tab at Johnson Central High School ! Lots of great information on every sport there as the school just launched its official website 2 weeks ago!

I don't think many fans know about Capital so here's the condensed report:

This is a very good team that is hard to make a comparison to from KY. West Virginia only uses a three class system and Capital is a 3A School (Largest Classification). Capital was the 2014 State Champs and the 2015 Runner-Ups. They are basically the "official" city school for West Virginia's State Capital Charleston and has the best tradition of the Charleston area schools. Enrollment is round 1200.. would be a 6A school in KY.

The main thing to note is Capital is a magnet school and for decades has been able to draw the top of the talent pool in Charleston and the surrounding areas. In recent years South Charleston has also surged. Everyone remembers Randy Moss and Jason Williams that played for DuPont. Odds are that if they were playing now they would probably be suited up for Capital if I had to guess.

For a KY Comparison I really dont have a good one. Not sure Male is a fair comparison. Louisville Central comes to mind in that they both are magnet schools and both draw from similar talent pools,,, just Capital probably has a deeper pool to draw from with less competition. Imagine what Bryan Station would be with a stronger and more stable coaching staff and without Henry Clay or a Lafayette nearby.

Capital would be a Top 5 or 6 6A team in KY most years and their State Champion team from 2014 would have been rivaled anyone not named Male or Trinity, and probably could have competed with both very well. Not sure how much they return this year but should be great competition and a favorite entering this matchup.

I'm with @ATLCat, JC will be the underdog in this game, but I think it's awesome that JC has been able to find a WV connection to beef their schedule up. Capitol doesn't really have down years, so if JC can pick up the win, it will certainly be an impressive one. Did JC get a home and home with Capitol?

I would have to agree that JC is the underdog in this one. Factoring in the bus ride for Capital, home field for JC and the style of play JC brings. I would say JC +6.5 if I had to set a line. Should be a great game and help the Eagles down the stretch.

Dorian Etheridge, Kerry Martin, Turan Rush, Trayce Chaffins, & Silas Nazario are some names to look out for this Friday for Capital. They've got some long, rangy athletes that can cover a lot of ground. Nazario's not very big, but to say that he's jackrabbit quick, would be an understatement.

Who's taking the snaps for JC? Reading Matney's comments in the Daily Independent's preview, it sounds like no one will know until Friday night.

Capital's got a lot of good skill people, but I think they graduated a lot of size on the lines. That's where the Golden Eagles will win the game, IMO. Too much size and experience on both sides of the ball for the home team.

JC 28

Capital 19

Looks like Geordan Blanton will start at QB per the scrimmage game write-up's on the JC athletics web site.

I think the QB situation depends on who has the better week of practice. At Cabell Midland, JC experimented with 3 QBs and this past week they used 2.
