Rockcastle and Bourbon predications

How do you think the Rock's defense and offense will fair this Friday night on the Rock's home court.

Two words : blood...bath. Bourbon's losing streak continues, but give them credit for scheduling quality opponents.

I think both Rock's defense and offense will do quite well, thank you, regardless of who's "court" this is played on.

Seriously, Doodle, strange things happen but this one doesn't look to be pretty.

"Give them Credit" One of the stupiest moves of all time!!!

This will get ugly early and often! Rock by as many as they choose to score.

From what I have been told this was one of those times when you could only schedule what you could get....which may happen more frequently starting next year.

When Cawood had told Rockcastle County that they would NOT honor their end of the contract by traveling up to Rockcastle County as part of the 2 year agreement, that put Rockcastle County (no pun intended) between a rock and a hard place. Cawood even said that it would pay the cancelation fee of the contract...which I think is a crock.

So Rockcastle County was left without a home game...then they tried to schedule Beechwood...both teams wanted to play each other but they both wanted a home game for this week. Well Rockcastle County, which has had to play 4 home games each of the last two seasons, didn't want a 3rd consecutive season with only four home games. So the teams mutually decided not to play because like I said both wanted home games.

Then Rockcastle County had tried to schedule a game with Christian County but like with Beechwood, neither team could wanted to travel this week.

So when Coach Larkey got in contact with Coach Holcomb at Breathitt County to ask him if he knew of anyone needing a game in the 2nd week of the season he told him the ONLY team that he knew of was Bourbon County.

Bourbon County was scheduled to play Scott County in their bowl game this week but Scott County knew how bad the game would turn out so they offered Bourbon County $1000 NOT to play them...well when Rockcastle COunty offered a 1-year contract to Bourbon County for $2000 for them to travel to The Rock they gladly accepted. They're basically getting $3000 to travel down to Rockcastle County tomorrow.

If the KHSAA steps up like it should and makes Cawood pay the contract cancellation fee then it's all a moot point as far as the money is concerned on Rockcastle County's end. I, along with many other people in the mountains, have STRONG feelings as to the leadership at Cawood HS but this is not the time nor place to discuss them. All I can say about their end of the deal is that they need to "man up" and pay their end of the deal or play the game that was scheduled. They didn't even give a valid reason why the opted out of the contract.

Enough ranting on the situation that led to Rockcastle County to scheduling Bourbon County.

As far as the game is concerned, technically it's over right now but the game still has to be played. My only question is how many different positions will the Rockcastle County players end up playing? The reason why I ask that is that everyone knows they're going to score early and often BUT with only 39 kids on the roster, how many will be getting a chance to show their talents at a different position than they normally play?

Rock 63-0.

"Give them Credit" One of the stupiest moves of all time!!!

The only way that it is a stupid move is if it could get players injured. Good competition never hurt anybody.

I understand Rock's position and it is kind of unfortunate. If they beat Bourbon by 70 points then everyone will say you are running up the score, if they win by something like 35-0 then everyone says the Rock is overrated this year and should've won by more.

I think Bourbon needs to rethink their scheduling a little bit. You have to crawl before you walk and while this may look gutsy to some, I think it is going to be ugly. Bourbon has been getting killed by just average teams and Rock is a lot more than just an average team.

It may not be as bad as everyone thinks. If the Rock doesn't get the offense in gear, they may not score as many points as everyone predicts.

That is very true.

From what I've heard about Bourbon, they won't have to get it in gear too much. Look for the old school Hard Rock offense tonight. I expect about 45-60 rushes for around 2-300 yards. The Rock should run it early, and often. Forget throwing the ball, they got a HUGE line.
