Mayfield vs Marshall County

Featured Replies

No, doubt that McNutt of Mayfield is an awesome high school kicker, but has anyone ever noticed he doesn't kick extra points and field goals the same! The pass he makes is totally different. His extra points are solid and usually go 30 yards past the goalposts. However his field goals are off center and wobbly, just an observation. Guess it's a confidence thing!

He kicks it better than I ever could!

I know the coaches are working with him on that aspect of it and speeding up his kicking a little to make sure they do not get blocked. I have noticed on his extra points he is smoother with his footwork knowing he does not have to get all of the ball to make those...but on his FG he tries to give it a little extra "umph" and his footwork sometimes gets off kilt. But all in all...I would not trade him for any high school kicker in the state...especially since he is just a junior.

This should be a great game...along with the next 5-6 as the Cards are coming up on their "Murderer's Row" portion of the schedule with Marshall, Hoptown, Graves, and Tilghman.

On another note...is anyone else is surprised as myself that Russellville went from being proposed to being in Mayfields district next year in the new classification system to now being bumped up to 3A...will have to see if they requested that move or if that is just where the KHSAA put them.

I'm not their travel time would be terrible in 1A with all but Crittenden being to the far west. A move up to 2A appears more difficult than a move to 3A so I think it is a logical move with the bonus of not having to deal with Mayfield

I'm rather surprised most folks are picking the Cards in this one...I know the Cards are young, have injuries at some key spots, are playing a 4a team coming off a 9-1 season and with the heat, the Marshals depth should play a big role..I think the Cards play close for a half and maybe into the 3rd qtr, then the Marshals will take control late...Hope I'm wrong, but, I've gotta go with Marshal in this one in the neighborhood of 34-21...

Is this game going to be aired anywhere over the internet? If so, whats the stations web site address?
