I was 8 and I think I wet my pants when the head popped out of the boat. I was afraid to get in the pool at the YMCA. I kept looking down to see if anything was coming to get me.

 

Great movie. Close to the top of my all time favorites.

Yeah I think he tried one day and was drunk and was horrible at it...then came back sober the next day and did it in one take. He was a great actor and those scenes in the galley really showed how good he could be.

I've read the same thing. And that Dreyfuss and Scheider were mesmerized by it.
