Was that bridge not called the Shortway. It did indeed charge a toll and did indeed have a card in the little shack, but he eventually was replaced. Now the Covington projects were certainly located there, but not sure about Newport projects. I remember the West Side Café, the tank bus station, a baseball field and maybe a casket/monument company that eventually became a candy store.

 

The building next to the bridge is still a wholesale distributor and the casket company still stands. Was there a baseball field down that way too? The only one I remember was by the flood wall
