May 24, 201610 yr We have never watched an X-Men Movie. Decided that we finally wanted to get in on them and see what they are all about and would like to see the new one out this week. So here are my questions for X-Men fans... 1. Which movies do I absolutely need to see from this series, for continuity of story sake? If so in what order? 2. Are there some that I could or should skip? 3. Is it imperative that I see any of them before the new one that comes out this week? 4. Any thing else I need to know about this franchise?
May 24, 201610 yr Essential to this are watching X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future's Past. You could get by without the others. If you absolutely wanted to be more complete as it pertains to these: X-Men X2 X-Men: Last Stand X-Men: First Class X-Men: Days of Future's Past First Class is a prequel, but the foundation of Future's Past and Apocalypse. Future's Past references a lot of the first three movies, which is why you may want to watch them to be complete. I really enjoy The Wolverine, which is worth a watch, but not essential before Apocalypse.
May 24, 201610 yr Author Thanks DVR set to record first class and future past. Both are on this week...watching Last Stand tonight.

Isn't that DeadPool guy supposed to be an X-men? Avoid that one.
May 25, 201610 yr Author Isn't that DeadPool guy supposed to be an X-men? Avoid that one. Yeah he is...We saw that mess...
May 25, 201610 yr Thanks DVR set to record first class and future past. Both are on this week...watching Last Stand tonight. Spare yourself and avoid Last Stand. You don't need that. X-2 was the best of the first trilogy. The others I can do without. Saw First Class and really liked it but never caught Days of Future Past.
May 25, 201610 yr Isn't that DeadPool guy supposed to be an X-men? Avoid that one. Yeah he is...We saw that mess... Did you two just become old? I think you just became old. You didn't like Deadpool? :eyeonyou: It was a perfect interpretation of the character.

May 25, 201610 yr Did you two just become old? I think you just became old. You didn't like Deadpool? :eyeonyou: It was a perfect interpretation of the character. I know very little about any of the x-men characters. It's just not my bag.
May 25, 201610 yr Author Did you two just become old? I think you just became old. You didn't like Deadpool? :eyeonyou: It was a perfect interpretation of the character. I had zero knowledge of Deadpool 2 weeks before seeing the movie. I read up on the basics of the character just to know a little of what to expect. My son said the same thing you did, that this is exactly how Deadpool is. If so, then I guess I'm just not a big fan of Deadpool.
May 25, 201610 yr Author Spare yourself and avoid Last Stand. You don't need that. X-2 was the best of the first trilogy. The others I can do without. Saw First Class and really liked it but never caught Days of Future Past. Too late...I've already watched Last Stand...it was OK. It was also the first X-men movie I've watched completely.
May 25, 201610 yr Too late...I've already watched Last Stand...it was OK. It was also the first X-men movie I've watched completely. Last stand wad probably the worst example of the characters
May 27, 201610 yr Author Okay from being an X-Men neophyte a few days ago, we have now watched X-Men: Last Stand, First Class and Days of Future Past. Of those 3, I enjoyed First Class the most. I still plan on seeing Apocalypse some time this weekend, but I'm not expecting much after reading reviews from a few friends that saw the movie last night. As a franchise I'd just list X-Men as OK. It's one I'll probably watch going forward, but it's not one I'll be looking forward to like Avengers or the DC movies.

May 28, 201610 yr Author I liked Apocalypse, even at nearly 2 and 1/2 hours it never seemed slow or tedious like some of the others. I enjoyed this cast of characters very much with Quick Silver easily being my favorite.
