Lord knows that Rivera Lopez has probably been in jail for a lot longer than folks convicted of the things he was actually convicted of typically would be. It's a long sentence and probably stems from the political nature of his case.

 

But it does exemplify the left's own troubles with identity politics and where they fit into the larger justice narrative. I need to read more about this case, but at this point, it's not a hill I'd be willing to die on.

According to the article he was offered clemency in exchange for him denouncing the use of violence and he declined ( under the Clinton presidency) . To me being involved in bombing a mass number of innocent people to advance your political beliefs is a life sentence . No parole .

Not shocking coming from Bernie and those of his ilk...watched a Periscope of Bernie Marchers in California a couple of days ago, it was shocking how many were wearing T-Shirts with the racist murderer Che Guevara on them.
