Newport Central Catholic 4 Brossart 0

It was the Haley Meyers Show in Alexandria this evening as the NewCath Jr. pitcher goes 4-4 at the plate, but sparkles in the circle, as she tosses her 2nd No-Hitter of the year (13th overall), as NewCath wins 4-0.

NewCath would get all they would need in the 2nd, as Fr. Katie Kelly hits a one out triple down the right field line and scores on Fr. Kacy Zimmerman's GO4-3. So. Jaden Watts draws a walk and Jr. Kathryn Schreiber singles to left, a passed ball allows both to move up a base, then DLG 2.0, Jr. Alex Burkart hits a 2-run single to left-center. The Breds would add one more in the 5th on a bases loaded Katie Kelly infield single that went about 15 feet, but had more "english" then a Minnesota Fats cue shot.

Meyers only struck-out two and walked two, but the defense behind her tonight was flawless (Meyers commits the only Breds error for the game). Meyers and Fr. 2nd basemen, Jenna Fryer both with 3 of NewCath's 10 assist for the game.

NewCath is at home tomorrow vs. Conner.

Thanks Lawnboy - but I will wait for BGH's report

NewCath was pretty solid tonight. Brossart offense obviously didnt mustard a single threat to put any pressure on the defense. In my opinion, a pretty lopsided game for only being 4-0....Brossart on a little bit of a jet lag from Senior play over the weekend...hopefully the girls get focused after today.

How many hits did Breen have? Seemed like she had some pretty good swings for not making LB's leaders.....

I was coaching 1st base, but the scorekeeper had Breen 0-4.....PO1, LO5, FC, E5.

I guess I recall some hard hit balls or good looking swings from her...nice young player and good stick behind Meyers.

Thats 2 for 4 in some books!

Quite true. I know a guy who could line out to the pitcher in one at bat, hit another liner to the 1B his next time up... but still be 5 for 5 in the game.

The story goes......already 3-3 in the game, Earl lined a single up the middle, but the umpire called an illegal pitch. On the next pitch "the Pearl" laces a double and proclaims he was 2 for 1 during the at bat....thus he was 5 for 4.

BTW, Earl lives on my FedEx route, always comes to the door with a softball tourney shirt on. The best is his telling of his 30,000th career hit. LOL

Earl, Pomp, Chip Gregg.......a few softball classics.

That is not true, I asked June and she said it was only a 308.
