April 6, 201610 yr On our way down to Tennessee/North Carolina we noticed a HUGE traffic jam just south of the I-75 northbound slide area in Tenn. It was MILES long. Has anyone recently been through that area on their way north and did you take the alternate route of US25 West between Caryville and Jellico? And if you did was it as backed up as I-75 North in the slide area? I-75 North is only one lane through that area and I'm trying to avoid it. Thanks.
April 6, 201610 yr Just came that way Sunday. Take the US 25 exit and come out at Jellico. It's God's country but it's a beautiful drive and will save you time
April 6, 201610 yr Mrs. C and I went 27 south out of Somerset To 63 east just past Oneida, TN That takes you back to I-75. Then I-75 to Knoxville. It's 2 hours from Somerset to Knoxville that way.

April 6, 201610 yr Author We're taking 25E back through to Cumberland Gap. We decided we wanted to stop there on way home anyway so that will work out from where we are. Thanks folks for all the help as usual.

April 6, 201610 yr Went I-75 North thru that area Monday around 1pm and didn't even have to step on the brakes. One lane for about a mile but not a problem. I guess it all depends on what time you're driving.

I guess it all depends on what time you're driving. Yes it does, I have a truck that comes thru on Tuesdays and Fridays between 7 and 9. He says Tuesday is never a wait and Fridays 1 hour or so.
