They averaged 17 ppg last year. Probably still a good hire.... But doesn't have much to do with how many points they scored per game.

I don't know the guy, so I can't base my conlusion on his leadership abilities or other qualities. He was the OC. The OC's job is to score points. Over the course of his tenure, the did that, and they did it at a school where that isn't a given. If you have other information about why this is a good hire, please share it.

Coach Thornsberry is a solid character guy. Scoring was off for them last year; they were however really handicapped with injuries and a transfer. First string QB from the year before missed the entire season, 2nd string transferred, 3rd string missed several games with injuries. They actually played a TE and Freshman (who is not a QB) in several games.
