You think Hue left for Cleveland and Marvin said, "ok take what you want from my roster." Im sure there was a discussion between the two of them of who Hue could go after and who he couldnt, even the FA guys.

 

Why would Hue Jackson let his relationship with Marvin influence who the Browns should pursue in Free agency?

I understand that AJ McCarron was decent in the limited opportunity, and I understand the value of a reliable backup QB. What I don't get is why you would consider the backup QB untouchable. I'd trade AJ for a quality draft pick if the opportunity presented itself without thinking twice.

My question is, will Dalton's thumb injury be lingering like Kurt Warner's was, to the point that ball security was a MAJOR issue for him.

Think about it how many rookies have even started or played that much for the Bengals recently? So why trade McCarron to get a draft pick of a guy who may not be a starter either.

 

If the Bengals were a team rebuilding and needing draft picks then yes that would make sense. The Bengals are not rebuilding and most draft picks won't start right away unless it's a receiver next year. So why trade a quality backup qb who you can win with, for another backup most likely that you don't know how will pan out.

 

To me I wouldn't think twice about trading him unless someone blows me away with an offer you can't refuse. Especially when no one knows exactly how Dalton will do coming back from his first true injury in his career and also missing 2 wrs he has had for 4 years.

Exactly. If there's a guy who's a free agent, even if the Browns don't take him, there's 30 other teams that could. No need to fall on your sword for the sake of friendship here.
