Kayaking over Cumberland Falls

There is another video from a GoPro mounted on the guy with the red kayak. You can go to his Facebook Page Dane Jackson to see that video. Looks like from his videos he has gone over a lot of falls, said this was a bucket list item checked off. Was also charged with trespassing when he got out of the water.

Did the guy in the green kayak make it back in to his kayak? Am I wrong in assuming the kayak and paddle are tethered somehow? Maybe to the kayaker as well?

Guy in red Kayak seems to have helped him get to it. I don't know if they are tethered or not...seems like they aren't but I'm not sure.

A buddy of mine kayaks and was there a few years ago when another guy went over, my buddy was down stream in a kayak in case he needed help.

They were charged with criminal trespassing lol

Holy :poop:...

I'm shocked he re-surfaced as quickly as he did. He had to have been "locked in" somehow! I used to be an adrenaline junkie back in my teens and twenties. Have bungee and cliff jumped, surfed conditions I shouldn't have....but this is way over the top.

He's lucky to have escaped unscathed minus the trespassing charge. Can't see how that will hold up in a court of law unless it's in the books somewhere you cannot travel over the falls. You figured folks just presumed all along no one would be ignorant enough to attempt it! :lol2:

The Go Pro version of this is awesome

I don't think you are allowed in the water above the falls...that's probably where the trespassing comes in.

I read where the kayakers said the Ranger was pretty cool about it overall.

I'm into kayaking and have done some light whitewater but nothing like that. If you get on youtube and search "whitewater kayaking" you will find some insane videos. @OlDog75, no the paddles are not tethered to anything generally. You can buy a paddle leash but most of the whitewater guys don't use them. The spray skirt is what allows you to pop back up so quickly, it seals the cockpit so since there is an air pocket in the yak so it immediately wants to resurface.

Talking to a buddy today that is big into kayaking, that was his green kayak that they borrowed to go over the falls. Said he has kayaked with these guys off and on for over 10 years. They are both Pros and I think he said one was a former world champ.
