Mercer / Danville / Jessamine scrimmage

Featured Replies

Didn't get to make it to the scrimmage today. Can anyone provide any details on how Mercer County looked in the scrimmage?

danville 7 mercer 6. Time ran out because they only had three hours.

mercer is runing the same offence danville has its like looking at the same team.

Both teams looked pretty good. Danville beat W. Jess 38-14 and Mercer beat W. Jess 30-0. Mercer was leading 6-0, when they went for it on fourth down and the quarterback was sacked and fumbled, Danville ran the fumble in for a touchdown, added the extra point and went up 7-6. Danville kicked off to Mercer, the kick went out of bounds, and the scrimmage was over. Danville 7, Mercer 6.

Sounds like a defensive battle and not much offense between Mercer and Danville.

Any individuals have a particularly good day? Did anything in particular stand out? Any weaknesses or concerns?

It was the best atmosphere for a scrimmage that I have ever seen. I think the players could have played all day, and for that fact, the fans could have watched them play all day. Both teams did mirror each other offesively, but one also has to remember how long Harp and Jaggers coached with one another, and how successful both were and how great of friends they still both remain. Mercer wont see anybody else run that offense the rest of the year, just like Danville wont see it. This scrimmage did exactly what it was meant to do, make both teams BETTER, and boy oh boy did it. Both teams have a lot more offensive power that they didnt show, but why show everything in a scrimmage, especially when a good deal of opposing teams that both will be playing were at the scrimmage?!?! That would make ZERO sense. Congrats to both teams, it was awesome to watch. Best of Luck to the ADS and TITANS this year!!!

Jacob Bryant for Danville had a good day, he had an interception, a deflection, and returned a fumble for the touchdown for Danville. Daylen Morris had a good game also. The Danville/mercer scrimmage was a good one to watch. There was a big crowd there.

Any memorable player for Mercer? Did any player for Mercer stand out? And how many people would you guess were there? I showed up last night to be informed it was cancelled. But, I totally understood.

Is West Jessamine not very good this year? What type of offense and defense are they running this year with the new coach?

Both mercer and Danville limited their offensive sets for the scrimmage. They were working on specifics. The intensity was very good and both teams looked physical and confident. I personally thought that Mercer had a few more weapons. The Jackson kid looked very good for Mercer. I think both teams got what they wanted. Can't wait until Next Friday!

Mercer's defense looked very strong again. Still hasn't allowed a touchdown.....a returned fumble by Danville the only score against the Titans by three different teams.:sssh:

the ads did have a touchdown reception called back, and a first down inside the 10 called back to make it 4th down b/c of only six men on the line of scrimmage. could have been 21

Offensive pass interference on the TD called back.

AS I SAID...Mercer did not allow an offensive score from ANY of their preseason scrimmage opponents. While Mercer certainly has some offensive weapons, their defense is doing the job.

Perhaps you should start another thread on should have, could have, would have, etc.....

Yeah, and Kentucky could have won the national championship last year in football. Just kidding, Danville is a real strong contender in Class A, and a really good team. It was just a scrimmage, I just wished they played in the regular season.

There has been talk about the two playing next season. Some of us are just a little excited about the Titans. Some too much. Trust me, there is much respect for Danville. I did think that it was pretty cool yesterday when Danville players started trash talking the Titans huddle before the start of the scimmage and Mercer responded by taking the intensity level far beyond a normal scrimmage. It was heated on both sides. From what I could tell, both squads looked to be title contenders.
