UK Fanatic Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 The Panthers and Saints will meet up for the fourth time this season on Monday in the 39th District Tournament. Augusta has won the first three. Jan. 09: 60-51 (All "A" at Bracken) Jan. 26: 67-61 (at St. Pat) Feb. 12: 77-44 (at Augusta) Thoughts on this one?
Old player Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I'll take the panthers by 12+ there coming in to this tournament with a full head of steam and playing smart basketball as a veteran team should. I've been very impressed with there defense more then anything. This group of seniors want another title and to me right now I can't see anybody stopping this team from that.
camelman Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 St. Patrick will make it a game for a half, then reality sets in.
Oldercoach Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Augusta will have to show with winning not taken for granted. Beating any capable team (as St. Pat is) is not a chore to be taken lightly. Think this senior class will show the maturity needed to play the next round.

Mtown1995 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 The rest I can't really argue with, I don't make predictions regarding St Pat games as a matter of policy, but I'll tell you it'll be a dandy

What games have they won that they should not of ?? Augusta is on a 20 win season and playing defense like I've never seen Augusta play before, not taking anything away from st. Pats coaching staff at all they have done a great job, but so has Kirk, so "superior" ?? ill disagree on that if anything Id give Augusta coaching staff a slight edge.. I also don't think this game will come down to coaching.

Coach Kirk is doing very well don't get me wrong, but next season when the cubords are bare will be when his metal really gets tested. St Pat's coaching staff consists of a combat vet who played in two sweet sixteens, a 10th region HOF coach who has already won a 10th Region title as a head coach, and played college basketball and baseball for LSU. a Montgomery County legend who played college ball, a St. Pat legend who won an All A region title as a player and played college ball. A Maysville legend who played in the 1989 sweet 16 and the 1990 All A state tournament, and played college ball, and scored 2500 points in college, and has been coaching at various levels for about 20 years with much success, and a former pro soccer player who also played HS basketball for a top program in Texas. Sorry but in terms of coaching experience, winning experience, and overall basketball IQ St. Pat's head men win every time.

Sounds like a very nice Resume, I appreciate and have a great deal of respect for our veterans, thank you coach Taylor for your Service, as for them being great player in there time that's wonderful, but great player are not necessarily good coaches or great coaches, as for the pro Soccer player, well that's great not sure how that equals basketball IQ!! Seems they have the staff now they just need the wins..
10thregionobserver Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Sounds like to me it's district basketball time in Ky. Gotta love it
Sportsaholic Mamaw Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Well, it's no surprise to anyone where my heart goes with this one. Have watched them grow together since 2nd & 3rd grade and know how much respect and appreciation they have for one another. Love those guys and hope they play the best game of their lives. They are a dedicated hard working group of young men who will leave it all on the court. Bring your A game Saints.

Yeah I knew that one wouldn't make any sense, that one's primarily utilized for the soccer team, but like I said he played good ball in HS school, and it's just nice having another high level athlete around.

Very true, but I've worked under guys who were good players and couldn't coach their way out of paper bag, but these guys are the good kind, no ego issues, a desire and ability to make players better, and perhaps as important a genuine care for their players and love for the game.
