Bernie Stowe Has DIed

Featured Replies

Reds legendary equipment manager. Bernie started with the Reds in 1947 when he was a 12-year-old batboy. Retired in 2013.

His sons started working for the Reds in 1975 and 1981.

He was 80.

Every Reds baseball fan knows who Bernie Stowe is. I wonder how many other equipment managers are known by their fans like that? That is a testimony to Bernie Stowe.

I hope the Reds honor him this season, I'm sure they will. I remember him from when I was little they were talking about him then. I know the players have always talked highly of him anytime they were asked about him, well respected.

RIP Bernie. He was an icon in Cincinnati who was loved and respected by all. It is only fitting that the Reds named the clubhouse after him when GABP was built.

Can you put an equipment manager in your HOF?
