All joking aside, where do you park when going to Newport Stadium? Looking at Google Earth I don't see much in the way of parking.

Under the highway should have ample parking for this game. NewCath v Beechwood games rarely run out of parking on Newport's campus and close surrounding area.

I wondered about that area under the highway. You can't see it from above and I don't remember anything about parking from 30 years ago. I'm getting old.

 

Belfry usually travels pretty well, but they won't rival a Beechwood crowd. As a matter of fact, due to the heavy success the Pirates have had over the last several years, I think our fans have become spoiled. They just expect these long playoff runs and for whatever reason they are more likely to skip regular season games, especially road trips but also home games where Belfry is a big favorite.

 

And if we are being truthful, most people here don't have as much money to go around these days and a trip like that is likely an unaffordable luxury for many, especially here in the coal fields.

Belfry does look to be pretty strong, returning a lot of their team from last season. I'm telling you though, you never know with the Pirates that early in the season. Belfry has a tendency to start kind of slow. I know the coaching staff tries hard to build their team so that they peak in November, and sometimes that approach means that they look a little behind the curve in September.

 

It wouldn't surprise me to see Belfry force their will on NewCath, but at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me either to see them lose to them if the Breds are having a great game.

Belfry's most challenging foe is going to be complacency and focus.

 

You have 4 or 5 guys who have a legitimate chance to play at the next level.. some of those at possibly even the D-1 level... going to be a summer filled with camps and college recruiters. Going to be very important for Belfry's Seniors to keep their focus on the goals of the season and not on which college coach is following them on Twitter.

 

If this upcoming Belfry Senior class keeps their focus and let's the chips fall where they may after working their tails off to improve their game and their strength and conditioning Historic things will happen. If egos and complacency set in I could see them backslide.

 

On a similar note and a positive note...very happy to see Cole Bentley secure his first D-1 Offer from Charlotte. Have a feeling several more offers will be coming soon for him.
