RCC9 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Just observations...don't know enough to understand and always respect the BGP rankings. Mercy beat Butler and played the Toledo team very close over the weekend. Still at 11 after that or could they be higher? Eastern beat SH. SH still warranted that high and Eastern that low? SK seems high. Again, just don't know enough. I trust the rankings are very close because I think they are the best and most objective. Just a few talking points.

You can rank them at any spot from 5-25 and someone would be able to point to a reason why you're wrong. They can beat... or be beaten by anybody on this list. On a side note, their schedule is ridiculously difficult. Eastern and Sacred Heart are both really good. Difficult to separate at this point. The LIT will make this conversation a little easier next week. Looks like LIT games on Wednesday will probably be: Mercy vs. Eastern, Bullitt East vs. Male, North Bullitt vs Butler and Sacred Heart vs Manual.

I am with you as far as not knowing enough to completely understand the rankings. As far as SK is concerned, I think strength of schedule comes into play. They have lost 5 games so far this season, To numbers 1, 7, 10, 14, and 17 in the rankings. The only blowout was Etown, who has been blowing out everyone (at least instate). Not sure why they would be ranked ahead of Lincoln Co. And Ryle. Like you said, some nice talking points but doesn't mean anything at the end of the day. We'll see you in a few weeks!
denniscarguy Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 According to Maher rankings Simon Kenton has the #3 strength of schedule year to date. Then they still play Henry Clay, Conner, Cooper, Campbell Cty and Highlands. All teams in the top 20-50 range. That is a year long tough row to hoe.

However, they haven't beaten any of those top teams. So that's why I would question the ranking. Not starting issues, just saying it's one thing to play them, but unless you beat some, I'm not sure how that moves you up in the rankings. I think there are 5 teams on the list alone that are ranked behind them that have arguments that they are better. Just my opinion. Holmes Ryle Lincoln Co Bullet East Franklin Co
jvdfc Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I believe Franklin Co should be in the top 10 at least with their results along with the schedule they have played. The are a hungry team too after last years run to the Sweet Sixteen.
Gomer Pyle Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Isn't Mason Co the only in state team to beat Murray?
jumpball Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Isn't Mason Co the only in state team to beat Murray? Yes, Murray's only loss, in or out of state, has been the close loss to Mason, with quality wins over Owensboro cath and Lincoln Co.
