I was wondering about McCreary's outlook for the upcoming season. They had a good running back/linebacker, number 37, last year. Anybody know his name and if he's back or gone on to college?

Thats who your thinkin of. He go into some trouble and is live back with his mom. His dad just didn't care, had a future too.

The person that you are thinking about was a Jones boy, he has graduated and now is playing football for Union College.

As for the upcoming season, McCreary looked good in their first scrimmage against Lynn Camp. We are hoping this is the year that we can break into the winning ways, but no matter what happens, next year we can only get better.

They looked good last year. Who else will they scrimmage? I heard the new coach has the enthusiasm and has them headed in the right direction.

McCreary Central is 3A but don't play in a district. I think they dropped district play 3-4 years ago. Doesn't seem fair to me for the kids, what does this tell the kids who work hard everyday in practice?

It allows them to schedule anyone they want as opposed to playing a mandatory district schedule. Downside is that they are not allowed in the playoffs regardless of their record. They are projected next season to be included in the same 4A district as Bell, Rock, Knox Central, and Madison Southern. I've not heard if they plan to participate.

It is very hard to build a program over there. They have had a number of coaches in the past and none of them could ever get the support of the community of the faculty. They are now back the the father of the program Coach Gaye. He was the first coach the program had i think in the early 90's

They play in a bowl game on the 19th at Berea against Powell and then retun home to face an extremely good team in Oneida (TN) on the 25th. The season should be better with one of the best athletes in the state in Aaron Watts. He led the basketball team in scoring as an 8th grader, and led his middle school team, McCreary County Middle, to a 10-0 season last year recording outstanding numbers as a running back. Look for a better season, possibly a winning season with the schedule.

Well Mcreary played a very tough Leslie County team Friday night in the last scrimmage game, they have some things to work on, but it still seems like this will be an interesting year for the Raiders. What I am hearing at this time, the Raiders do plan to get back into the district next year.

The Watts kid is going to be a great asset to the team, but their are a number of players that could help the Raiders finally get over the hump.

The new and experienced coach of the team really likes to mix it up, so you just never know whats coming next.

I'm pretty optimistic about this coming season. I would expect a pretty good season, possibly a winning season. You're right, they do have things to work on but they have some talented players.
