Mercer County 78 Danville 56

Featured Replies

Final from Danville.

Trevon Faulkner took over in the second half.

I wasn't overly impressed with Mercer County in the 1st half but they went to a different level in the 2nd. I'll post more and some videos later.

As PP said, Faulkner was a beast in the 2nd half. Hager was Hager. James knocks down shots on a consistent basis. Mercer has all the tools.

Of the teams I have watched this season, I'd put Mercer in the top 5, but PLD is still my No. 1.

I was curious to see your evaluation after seeing Mercer. Do you think they can beat SW in the regional tourney? That's the team i think has the best chance of beating them.

I can answer that, of course they can beat them.. They beat them last year while bringing back their entire team.

I have yet to see Mercer this year, however with the leadership of Wayne I believe they have ebough to pull an upset as well

Hager and Faulkner combined for 30 points compared to Danville's 31 in the second half.

I haven't watched Southwestern yet during the season but just knowing their players, I think they definitely have a shot. Mercer is certainly the team to beat in the 12th though.

If they do make it to Rupp, my concern would be lack of size.

Dunbar lost to Madison Central tonight.

I saw that. Does that move Mercer to No. 1 on BGP poll or Trinity?

Saw that score. Thought it may have been competitive but didn't expect that outcome

Mercer is the best team in the Region hands down. BUT, Southwestern, Wayne and Maybe Boyle will give them all they want. I say Boyle because you don't go to Clay County and get a win, and they did just that. And they have the best big man in the region in Colton Elkins. He will eliminate a lot of Mercer County's drives to the basket.

No clue. It's Tuesday. Whole slate of games to be played before next Monday.

I disagree. Their shortest starter is what? 6'2? Hager running the point at 6'4 is already a problem for most teams and I don't think you'll see many teams with the skilled size like Mercer County has.

Everyone in Mercer's starting lineup is 6'2" to 6'4". I'm just saying it might be a concern if they play a team with a couple of 6'8" guys.

And personally, I thought Mercer looked really good with Faulkner playing point and Hager creating a mismatch problem in the paint. I wonder if Hager will play PG in college?

What team has a couple of 6'8 guys that we don't know about at this point? They've already faced one of the best big men in the state in Caleb Taylor, they'll see Colton Elkins on the 26th and they'll see Ross Jenkins in February. Wayne County has some height in Gillispie and Coldiron and they'll see them next week. There aren't a whole lot of teams out here with a bunch of big men on it but should that happen they'll have seen a few high quality big men to figure it out.

I'm pretty sure Hager was being recruited to run the point.
