Maybe the Death Valley Bowl in Lincoln County in 2017?

 

Lincoln County is still a heck of a haul for Mayfield.

Logistically dont see it happening.

 

Belfry plays the Pike County Bowl in Week 1 and Haywood hates playing Week 0 games.

 

Either it would have to be a Week 0 game in either the Rafferty's Bowl at WKU, the Bowl in Glasgow, or the Pulaski County games.

 

That or Mayfield would have to come across the State and play in the Pike County Bowl for two years. This actually would be really cool as you would get Mayfield vs. Pikeville and Mayfield vs. Belfry in successive years, and lodging would most likely be provided to Mayfield to accommodate.... but you are still asking them to drive 7 hours

That would be very interesting. It is fun to speculate about it, even if it probably wouldn't fit either team's wish list as far as scheduling goes.

Just thinking about this thread as the season looms. Belfry doesn't have one dominant, "El Toro" type fullback like Austin Hatfield, but they have two guys who share that position that combine to be a very very good tandem.

 

Fletcher and Wellman are as good a duo at FB that I can remember at Belfry and having them split time in that slot keeps both of them fresher as the games wear on.

From what I hear the duo may be a trio of great Fullbacks with a special Freshman talent as well

My favorite position on offense is FB. My favorite position on defense is MLB. Usually the same guy when a team has its best players go both ways.

 

These athletes are usually big, athletic, and strong. And they are fun to watch at the point of contact.

2016 Season again was a fullback feast for Belfry. When the FB position produces over 2,000 yards and 7.5 yards per carry, it is a beautiful thing in Pirate Land.

 

Sr Andrew Fletcher had 104 carries for 636 yards and 7 touchdowns. 6.12 ypc

Jr Derrick Wellman had 112 carries for 965 yards and 11 touchdowns. 8.62 ypc

Fr Peyton Hensley had 49 carries for 444 yards and 5 touchdowns. 9.06 ypc

So Tyler Gannon had 12 carries for 50 yards. 4.17 ypc

 

Total 277 carries for 2,095 yards and 23 touchdowns. 7.56 yards per carry.

 

The Finals MVP was again won by the fullback for the 4th year in a row. Derrick Wellman had 26 carries for 195 yards and 2 TDs. 7.5 ypc.

With respect though Tusi, Corbin took away the Fullback and Belfry beat them with their Halfbacks LOL

Very true, and Belfry adjusted well in that one. The fullback is still the straw that stirs the drink and he was doing his job vs. Corbin, and that allowed the RB to get theirs. If you take away the fullback you "might" beat Belfry, but if you don't, you probably have no chance.
