December 21, 201510 yr If we are going to consider them a national title contender, here is the key question: How many first round NBA draft picks do they have? What does that matter? Why does/doesn't that make them a title contender?

December 22, 201510 yr Oh goodness, not this again. In terms of being a Final Four contender, it is a bit of a chicken and egg argument. A very large number of FF teams have at least one eventual 1st Round pick, but how many get there by leading their team to a FF? Reynolds can be a draft pick, but he hasn't had the year many expected so far, in large part because he is in foul trouble pretty much every time out. I do wonder if someone might take a chance on Farr given his absurd rebound rate and ability to stretch the floor a little. Probably more of a 2nd round or free agent with a legit chance to stick though. Bluiett is a great college player, but I don't see him translating to the NBA. Sumner is probably the highest ceiling guy on the roster, but he needs another year or two learning to be a lead guard...
December 22, 201510 yr What does that matter? Why does/doesn't that make them a title contender? Oh goodness, not this again. Yes, facts and history. The team that wins the NCAA title almost always has NBA 1st round picks.

December 22, 201510 yr I am not saying X can't make the Final Four or even the title game if they have no 1st round picks. Michigan St. made the Final Four last year. But the team that wins the title has 1st round picks.
