We all remember two years ago when Belfry came to "The Rock"..

We went to Sheldon Clark in the playoffs as underdogs and beat them by a couple of scores. Sheldon Clark turned around a couple of years later and upset LC at LC on a couple of awful calls in the closing seconds (the officials got jumped and a dad was arrested after the game). This game is usually very physical and you can pretty much throw rankings out the window. Should be fun!

The game you are referring too at LC, I remember well. And I still can't believe the last call that was made at the goal line in the closing seconds.

I am trying to get off of work and make the 4 hour drive to Inez for this game, should be a good one.

Do Lawrence fans contend losing their starting Qb and "arguably" best player from last season, is unimportant? I am not saying Sheldon Clark is fantastic, but Lawrence is sending out a Freshmen at Qb. It will take an excellent effort by the bulldogs on the road IMO.

Lawrence isn't starting a freshman at QB and the kid they will be starting is as good if not all around better then the sophmore we started last year thats not to say you wont see Boone under center before the night is over because he's a dandy and will be one of the better QB's that has came from this area before his four years are up . And as far as the effort by the bulldogs goes . They allway's give an excellent effort thats all they know when it come to putting out they will leave it all on the field every game they know thier's no need to bring anything back after a friday night game because it starts all new on Monday LC should be just fine this season and like coach G said in the preview they will go as far as their line can take them and I think that's true for all the teams.:ylsuper:

I don't think anybody can loose two of the better players in the area and not miss them. Corey and Nathanial should both have outstanding seasons for their respected teams. I do think sometimes in High School that adversity brings teammates closer together and hopefully that is what will happen with the Dawgs. I also think that LC is usually at their best when their back is against the wall. They have some youth but the underclassmen there have loads of potential. It might take a little bit for them to gel but the future is bright in Louisa. Kyle Carter should be one of the better linemen in the state this year too so there is still leadership + talent with the older guys.

Are you talking about the same kid or two players? Sophomore Mark Fitzpatrick is as quick in the pocket (if not quicker) and will at least give the ball off to his team mates. I think over all, the players that are out on the field are more talented. I do think that the dawgs will have to deal with some inexperience out there, not from the individual aspects, but as a team. I think that the defense will keep us in the game until the offense gets warmed up, 1st quarter will be rough until the offense gets together and working out the kinks, then we may surprise some people. In the past LC seems to be more prepared when starting the season, perhaps camp had helped us there, where we did not have that this year, but I think that we will continue to get better and start peaking when the district games start.

Are you implying that the two "awful calls" were the only reason Sheldon Clark won this game? How about the fact that the Cardinals held the ball for the first nine minutes of the game against the state's top defense? Or what about the fact that the entire second half was played on Sheldon Clark's side of the field and the Cardinal defense did not break? I remember walking into the stadium that night and talking with a Bulldog fan. He asked me about Sheldon Clark and I told him that they would run the ball about 90% of the time. He said to me smugly, "They won't run it tonight." They did.....like I said they held it for the first 9 minutes of the game.

 

As for tonight. Lawrence County is a class program. In my opinion, Billy Goldsmith is one of the best guys in High School football....not only as a coach but as a person. The fan support in Lawrence is without peer in eastern Kentucky. It seems to me that the whole community backs the program. They have an absolute fantastic feeder system. I wish them all the luck in the world this season. We would do well in Martin County to emulate their program....and by the way with Shawn Hager at the helm I think we are on our way.

Chuke was the head coach so #1 offense would be a possibility but not defense. LC also had the lead so you must be talking about another game.

LC was up with under 1 minute left in the game. SC punted while LC's player called for a fair catch then tried to get away hoping the ball would land in the endzone for a touchback. SC's player ran over LC's player while the ball was still up in the air and knocked the returner to the ground. The ball came down at hit the player in the leg with SC recovering on the 1yd line. The next play they go in for the win and the game is over. The kid shouldn't have been anywhere around the ball but somebody would have to be smoking something to act like that wasn't the difference in the game. It was bad enough that the officials didn't get off the field. They had blown a couple of bad calls earlier too. Anyway's that is way in the past. Good luck tonight.

Isn't it funny how we can vividly remember things like these plays and stuff and turn around and can't remembers somebody's name that we grew up with . It just goes to show how we really loved the game . I too have memory's of sertain games and plays I can remember the one's from school that I played ball with for three years but I can't hardly remember the kids that I whent to school with for 12 years . I guess it's just a football thing
