Scott Grizzle, is he the best kept secret in the state?

Featured Replies

The talented quarterback plays for Class A Raceland. He goes 6-1-180 and he is getting looked at by several D-1AA programs. The senior to be had 2,300 yards in the air last season with 25 touchdowns last year.

Those numbers are pretty good; what does their schedule look like for the upcoming season?

Scott no doubt is an excellent QB, Besides his yardage last season I do believe that he threw for around 2,300 to 2,500 yds. in his Soph. year, not quite sure on the numbers. Imo some observations that I have made on him (and this is constructive critisizm) is that he needs to look the field over more and check other recievers other than the primary reciever for the play. Like I said, that is jmo and Scott does an excellent job and his numbers have proven that. I am not putting the kid down at all. He may be on pace to break some of Aaron Petry's numbers on yardage and completions at Raceland (and that is impessive), not sure. This year the Rams will have to replace the top two recievers from last year in Tolliver and Lacks. The Rams have some capable kids to fill the holes left by graduation though, they just need imo some more reps and experience. Scotts int. numbers last year ( a little high) are not so telling on him imo due to the wide open passing offense that the Rams have been running the past few years. When you throw the ball as much as Raceland you are going to have some picks. Besides his talents in football, Scott may have some avenues in baseball as well, he is an excellent pitcher for the Rams baseball team and I understand that he has recieved interest in that area from some schools as well. Good luck to the Rams this coming season, although they lost around 17-18 seniors off last years team they had some excellent young talent that will be able to step in.

I think he will really miss Tolliver this year. Does he have anyone to throw to this year?

He will miss Tolliver and Lacks both but he does have a couple of kids that saw some action last year and were coming around. By the way, there is another Tolliver and Petry on the team coming up, I hope they can pan out as well as their namesake. Both are pretty good ball players in their own right. I am not quite sure on where they will be playing (position) though.

Scott is a great kid. Always giving 110% and works extremely hard during the off season in the weight room.

Scott is a great athelte but considering Raceland throughs the ball every play... he really didnt not impress me much when Raceland played Ashland last year... it was almost like he disappeared against the better competition of a AAA school

Grizzle, Fo Shizzle.

First of all, thank you for complementing Grizzle on being a good athlete. Now, as for your other comments I really can't understand where you got them from but that is you opinion. It is hard to judge a kid on one game. I do belive that Scott still threw for around 200 yd. or better against Ashland so I don't think that I would consider that "dissapearing":sssh: Raceland made some key mistakes against the Tomcats last year that really cost them. Imo considering the mistakes they still played Ashland pretty tough. The point / fact was they got beat by a better football team plain and simple. I really don't think that the fact that Ashland being a AAA school had anything to do with it. Raceland being a class A school plays the bigger AAA and AA schools outside of district play all the time and has for years, we like playing the bigger schools. Scott has several colleges looking at him as a QB so I guess that he impresssed someone other than you :D . He has thrown for over 2,000 yards I believe in each of the last two years as a Soph. and Jr..IMO a lot of things go in to judging a QB or a h.s. player at any positon for that matter and college scouts know what they are looking for.

The stats speak for themselves. Hard for stats to "disappear" whether you are playing single A or AAA. I know that he has spent several weekends this summer visiting with college coaches at the Division 1 level. We'll see what happens this year. My bet says another good showing in the small town of Raceland.

:thumb: :thumb: Good post incognito, I agree 100%. There is a pride and a tradition here in Raceland a lot of people just don't understand bc it is such a small school, and that is in athletics and academics. Raceland - Worthington High school for the size that it is takes a back seat to no one regardless of size in any area.:thumb:

Scott is a good QB. But I really think his future is brighter in baseball. A lefty that can throw hard, as i think he will be, is always looked for in baseball. There's not a big need for a 6'1" QB. With offensive lines getting taller, bigger QB's are needed. He will have a very nice football season this year, but I look for a great baseball season coming up.

You know kids usually keep growing for a few years after high school. One of my sons is two inches taller than when he was a senior.
