Today's schedule will be:

 

Class D1: 11:30am ET (10:30am CT)

Class D2: 3:30pm (2:30pm CT)

Class B: 7:30pm (6:30pm CT)

 

Tomorrow's schedule will be:

 

Class C1: 11:30am ET (10:30am CT)

Class C2: 3:30pm (2:30pm)

Class A: 7:30pm (6:30pm)

 

Note: Class D1 and Class D2 are 8-man divisions and the field at the University of Nebraska is taped off to reflect an 80x40 field for 8-man games. Class A in Nebraska is the largest division and the rest fall in line in descending alphabetical order.

 

All games are played at Memorial Stadium, the home of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Glad some folks are able to watch. I like how some states championship games aren't all the same weekend as our finals so when I find games that are on and I don't have to work, I will definitely tune in.

I just love high school football! I'll watch all championships if I can!

On November 14 in the University Interscholastic League (Texas' main state association as the KHSAA is to Kentucky) there was a Class 1A Six-Man Division II first-round action, Blanket HS defeated Loraine HS 101-99 (yes that is the correct score). Click here for the recap for that game.

 

Then just four days ago, Blanket HS turns around and gets mercy-ruled by Balmorhea HS 52-6 in only one half (in Texas once the lead reaches 45 points in 6-man at or after halftime then the game is over). Balmorhea HS knelt the ball on the final drive of half for their only possession to not score on. That game's recap can be read here.

 

If you have never watched a 9-man, 8-man, or 6-man football game in person, you need to. It is so much fun. The biggest difference in rules compared to the normal 11-man game, in most states 8-man football in played on a smaller field and that's about the only exception, but in 6-man besides the smaller field, the teams have to gain 15 yards for any first down and the ball can't be passed unless it has been handed off once so most of the time the QB is not the one that takes the snap.

I wholeheartedly think that if we stay at te current 6-class system, Class 1A should be either 8-man or 9-man and schools that all into that division can elect to play up to 11-man. Schools like Phelps, Jenkins, Fulton City, Fulton County, and the other bottom feeders of the current Class 1A setup don't seem to have the number to compete at all in the 11-man game and would be able to potentially put a winning product on the field. It would also open up more schools that currently do not have teams to start one up and possibly evolve to the 11-man game.

I have never watched live nor on tv until i tuned into the nebraska D1 championship today. Was def intrigued by the size of the field and how fast these defenses seemed but listening to the audio of the game it seemed a defensive struggle game was far in few. Seems those boys score early and often!

This Class D1 8-man game has turned out to be a very entertaining football game. Has definitely helped pass my off day but delayed the house cleaning quite a bit lol guess i will get to it between this game and the Class D2 8-man game.

Yeah 22-0 at half and i think 28-0 at one time I turned it off got some work done (who should work this whole week) and when I turned it back on burnwell scored to make it 30-36 was a great game. Heard an interesting thing the past 3 losers of the D1 game have came back the following year and won the state game thats pretty cool!

I work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so I'm getting all the football I can in now. lol. Some of the Iowa state finals got moved to today from Friday due to weather concerns but I've been flipping back and forth between that and the Nebraska finals.
