Syrian Refugees Don’t Pose a Serious Security Threat

The article tells a lie in the very first few lines saying only 3 refugees since 2001 have been convicted of a terrorist act. There have been dozens. I could point to the Boston Bombers off the top of my head. I'll find the article but there have been dozens in the last decade.
You should read on. Your answers are there:

The distinction between asylum seekers and refugees is usually lost when discussing the security threat from refugees. The father of Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzokhar Tsarnaev was granted asylum status, which conferred derivative asylum status on the children. None of the Tsarnaevs were ever refugees.

Both Tamerlan and Dzokhar were children when they were admitted through their parent’s asylum claims. They did not adopt a radical interpretation of Islam or start plotting a terrorist attack until years after coming here. Their case does not reveal flaws in the refugee vetting process. There were some other terrorist attacks in the early 1990s from applicants for asylum status, but none of them were actual refugees.

As of right now, I am a believer of setting up refugee camps inside of Syria. Protect those camps with a coalition force. Send the money/food/ supplies that we would be providing refugees here, over to the camps to provide the necessities. This would limit the potential for a terrorist to slide into the US under the guise of a refugee, and would allow the refugees continue on with their life in their own homeland, making it easier to return to their homes when ISIS inevitably is defeated.

This is the best use of our resources, period. It allows for re-settlement in their own homeland after neutralization / stablization.

Absolutely no need to bring refugees into a completely different culture on the other side of the world and expect them to assimilate.

While we cannot guarantee that a terrorist is not on US soil, we can certainly eliminate the potential of at least one source.

I do not care if anyone thinks this is narrow minded...when there are people trying to eradicate you because of where you live, then you must take measures to protect yourself first, help others later

So we are splitting hairs to try and prove refugees pose no threat ?

Everything I've read says that Tamerlan and Dzokhar were children when they came here and adopted a radical interpretation of Islam many years after that.

Do you have something to prove otherwise? If not, this isn't splitting hairs.

I just posted an article like I said to say only 3 terrorist acts since 2001 from refugees from Muslim dominated countries is just not true.

We can have a serious discussion but it can't start with a lie.

When they developed their radical beliefs aside, they weren't refugees. That isn't a lie...

What if Native Americans had gotten this advice????.....

What if Native Americans had gotten this advice????.....

Then maybe my people would have won that battle and wouldn't be relagated to government granted land rampant with drug and alcohol abuse....

The Native Americans were outgunned, Syrian refugees are not "native" to the United States. But I would certainly support them protecting their own turf with assistance

I'm trying. Are you?

Again your splitting hairs on what they are.

That wasn't the article I read the other day I can get one from a more reputable sitell if you prefer , I just did a quick Google search and took the first article.

The point I'm making is I think both sides of this debate have legitimate points. But we can't start with a lie. 3 people is just a lie , it's that simple. It's an easy point to prove.

PP92 and I came to an agreement in the other thread I posted that it only makes sense to freeze the program for a short period of time so Obama can make a case to the American people on how this program won't affect anyone's saftey. Right now he isn't getting that message across. 2/3 the country doesnt want the program according to a recent Bloomberg poll. 2/3, when does 2/3 of the this country agree on anything ?

Fearing for the saftey of your family and friends is a legit fear. We have had 2 capitals of NATO countries get attacked. A Russian plane blown out of the air . 5 Syrian refugees trying to get on a plane in Honduras to enter the United States with stolen passports from Greece.

This is all happening so quick and people are nervous. I would say those fears are justified.

I also understand our obligation to the world as its only true world power , it is a legit reason to help.

But if your going to take my tax payer money give these people money, bring them into our neighborhoods in a time where people from their country are blowing things up across the globe. Well this program better be 100% transparent and I should be able to know everything about every person they bring in.

The guy who murdered the sailors in Chattanooga was a "refugee" also.
I haven't found anything concrete on how Abdulazeez's parents arrived here.

But as with the Boston bombers he was here for well over a decade before he developed his beliefs.

Did you read the article?

Yes, and I don't care. Have you paid attention to how the terrorist operate ? We must change our view and strategy for the defense of our people and that means closing down, buttoning up and lending assistance where we can.

The United States has lost it's will to protect it's own people because of political correctness....close the borders until we can gain the military advantage and quit being the band aid to the hemorraging of the world...
