November 13, 201510 yr The Trump, Carson factor is coming to the democrat side its just not this election. You are going to see more and more non political people get into government races of all kind. The days of seeing herds of sheep going to the polls is coming to and end. The GOP just happens to be the first party to get a good taste.
November 13, 201510 yr I think he will make it there. He has too much ego, money and polling support to not make it there. That is where the rubber hits the road though. It is going to be interesting to see how the voting goes in those first few states I'm just thinking at some point he's going to tire of spending the money and the grind as his poll numbers continue to shrink. We're about 10-11 weeks out? His poll numbers have dropped by about a third in a month I believe. If that trend continues, and I believe it will, he'll be at 10% come January. I don't think his ego will stand the battering. Then again, what else does a billionaire do for kicks?
November 13, 201510 yr I'm not putting any stock into the "draft Romney" rumors. But I do think there are some worries for the "establishment." Their preferred candidate - and by this I mean the candidate who the party decides is their best chance and who they unite behind right around January - is going to be weaker than usual. Either it's going to be Jeb! or Rubio. Jeb! is, for a lack of a better term, a legacy candidate and who has looked terribly uninspired thus far. And Rubio has been making a strong push to be the guy. He's a young, sharp candidate who would probably be Clinton's most formidable challenger. But, consider this: His main primary competition will be another junior senator with a much more conservative record and similar personal story. That has to make the party "elite" sweat a little. With Rubio, the party will have to put their eggs in the basket of a young guy who is going to have to convincingly balance conservative appeal with general election ambitions against a guy who has made his name by forcing the party into damning positions. If I'm a party "elite," then Cruz is probably the bigger concern. And if by some act of the electoral gods Trump or Carson win, then there's nothing a Romney or any other candidacy would have done.
November 13, 201510 yr I don't think they're worried at all. They all know Rubio is going to be the guy. It's not a matter of if, it's simply when the idiots drop out.

I've heard something through the grapevine that Rubio/ Romney is a real possibility.

Trump is obviously great at making money but I don't think he is all that smart, otherwise. He's definitely a good showman but that's about it.
