Wasn't a board member. Player's parents were real jerks and stirred up a bunch of trouble organizing parent meetings and stuff like that from what I've heard. They were part of a group of parents trying to get him fired that got started last year. Not a lot of administrative support. Not sure what they were so upset about unless they think every year Owen should be 11-0. Bad move. They ran off a good one.

The primary reason for Coach Fowler's decision to step down was a health issue at home. Enough said as far as that goes.

 

The being said, I'm confident Coach Fowler's decision was made much easier given the pushy parents he had around his program.

Never met Coach Fowler but his dad played at Mayfield and is considered to be arguably the greatest player and certainly QB that Mayfield has ever had. IN fact his father made it all the way to the NFL so Coach Fowler certainly has the football DNA and I hope he coaches again. Good luck Coach Fowler
